  • Anthony Mackie hits back at Tom Holland for the Spider-Man actor's quip about Falcon not having a solo film.
  • Mackie's response to Holland's comment came at Marvel Studios' Hall H during SDCC 2024.
  • Mackie, who is set to debut as the new Captain America on the big screen via Captain America: Brave New World, jokingly tells Holland, "Yeah, Tom Holland, f*ck you!"

After Tom Holland's quip about the Falcon not having his own solo Marvel film, Anthony Mackie hits back as he starts to promote end of Avengers: Endgame, he officially ed the iconic shield to Sam, effectively making him the next Captain America, and though it took a while, Mackie is set to spearhead his first film as the character.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, which Screen Rant attended, Mackie finally gets to hit back at Holland for his jibe about not having his own solo film. This is in light of Mackie's big-screen debut as the new Captain America, saying: "Yeah, Tom Holland, f**k you!" When Holland jokingly mocked Mackie for not having a solo movie at 2018's ACE Comic Con, the actor was still the Falcon in the MCU's timeline.

Will Mackie's New Captain America Ever Share The Screen With Holland's Spider-Man?

Marvel Studios Has Two New Avengers Films Coming Up

Captain America: Brave New World will mark Mackie's return to the MCU after the events of Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This time, however, he will not have the help of Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes. Considering the franchise's penchant for laying out their multi-year plans, Sam is guaranteed to return for other future projects, including the recently-revamped Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will both be directed by the Russos. Mackie could pop up in any other MCU project for a smaller crossover, but the special event movies will likely reunite Sam with Peter Parker.

While Sam's assumption of the Captain America role has been quite public, there hasn't been any explicit acknowledgment of his new role in the MCU. Considering the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, he may not even recognize Holland's Peter when they finally reunite. That said, it would be nice if there's any kind of meta-comment that Marvel Studios can sneak in to address the pair's funny back-and-forth about their roles in the famed franchise. Besides that, seeing them team up will actually be cool, especially if they become official of the new Avengers.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in need of new Avengers for Avengers 5, with plenty of intriguing options on the table for powerful new heroes.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are still a couple of years away. So before that, it will be great to see Holland respond to Mackie's public jibe about Sam not having his own film, particularly as Holland's own Spider-Man 4 remains in early development. If Marvel Studios want to milk this playful back-and-forth, it would also be hilarious if Holland comes to Captain America: Brave New World's premiere next year.
