Batman: Under The Red Hood is one of het most compelling DC animated movies ever made, and these great moments are why it still stands out.

10 Curran Walters

The Actor Has Already Played Red Hood In Live-Action

Curran Walters is the only Red Hood candidate for the DCU who has already played the character in live-action. The star gave life to Jason Todd in DC's Titans series. Walters first played Jason as the new Robin following Dick Grayson's departure from Gotham City. During Titans season 3, Jason was resurrected and became the anti-hero known as the Red Hood.

Given how the DCU should be avoiding origin stories for many of its characters, that could mean that DC will dive right in with the Bat-Family already fully formed. Damian Wayne's inclusion in The Brave and the Bold points that way, as he is the fourth male Robin in the comics. Walters' experience bringing Jason's transition into Red Hood to life could help inform a fully-fledged version of the character in the DCU better than a new actor coming in to start fresh with the role.

9 Dacre Montgomery

The Star Could Become Red Hood After Missing Out On An MCU Hero

Dacre Montgomery has been a popular name for possible new heroes in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and new DC movies and series for years now. However, the actor recently missed out on playing the MCU role he was one of the fan-favorites for, with another Stranger Things star — Joseph Quinn — being cast as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four.

With his perfect MCU role out of the way, Montgomery would be a great choice to give life to Jason Todd in the DCU. With Damian's debut confirmed for The Brave and the Bold, Jason should already be an adult and operate as Red Hood. Based on how well he played the aggressive and arrogant Billy Hargrove in Stranger Things, while still making the character beloved by fans and deserving of redemption, he is a great fit for the most volatile of the Robins.

8 Gavin Leatherwood

The Actor Has Experience As An Impulsive Franchise Player

Gavin Leatherwood would be an exciting choice to play Jason Todd in the DCU. The actor broke out with his role as Nicholas Scratch in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Throughout the series, Leatherwood showed the full extent of his charisma, with his character becoming the more popular end of the love triangle involving Kiernan Shipka's Sabrina Spellman, himself, and Ross Lynch's Harvey Kinkle.

Leatherwood showcased not only his charm but also his ability to play characters who can react unexpectedly according to different situations. Jason Todd is known for having a temper and being unpredictable, and the actor could easily bring that to life in the DCU. Like Jason, Nick was also an impulsive character who was greatly skilled in fights — though with magic rather than fists in the series — and that would help Leatherwood feel at home as Red Hood.

7 Harry Collett

The Actor Is Perfect For A Younger Take On Red Hood

At just 20 years old, Harry Collett is someone who could play Jason Todd for more than a decade in the DCU. The star is currently poised to have the biggest role of his life during season 2 of HBO's acclaimed Game of Thrones spinoff series House of the Dragon. Collett debuted in season 1's latter half as Jacaerys Velaryon; however, the actor had only a couple of episodes to show his worth.

In season 2, Collett's character will play a major role right from the start, being an important part of Team Black in the war between the two Targaryen families that was started by the events of House of the Dragon season 1's finale. Collett showed the necessary energy and resolve in the series to play a comic book-accurate Red Hood in the DCU.

6 Nicholas Hamilton

Another young actor who could give life to Jason Todd in the DCU is Nicholas Hamilton. The actor is most commonly known from It, which was directed by The Brave and the Bold's Andy Muschietti. Having already worked with the director of the DCU's Batman reboot is good for Hamilton's chances of ing the franchise. The actor played Henry Bowers in the horror movie and its sequel.

Henry Bowers was an awful person, and while Jason Todd is not nearly as bad as It's bully, the more violent traces of both characters' personalities could mean good things for the DCU if Hamilton were cast as Red Hood. The actor also has experience with superhero properties. Hamilton voiced the hilarious invisible superhero Maverick — Translucent's son, in The Boys' spinoff series Gen V, which is another step in his possible superhero future at DC.

5 Jacob Elordi

At 26, Jacob Elordi is currently one of the top rising stars in Hollywood. The actor has already played one of the most iconic singers to have ever lived — Elvis Presley — to positive reception in Priscilla. Elordi also recently was part of another movie that generated buzz during Hollywood's awards season, co-starring in Saltburn alongside The Batman universe Joker actor Barry Keoghan.

Elordi is starting to build out what could become quite an impressive filmography, and the actor's role in an award-winning series makes him one of the best candidates to the new DC Universe as its Red Hood. In the controversial Euphoria, a series that approaches hard topics for a younger generation, Elordi showed that he excels with darker characters and has the silent intensity needed to accurately bring Jason Todd to life.

4 Colton Ryan

Red Hood Could Be His Big Break Outside Theater

Colton Ryan has had a few main roles in TV series like Little Voice and The Girl from Plainville. However, the actor's strongest foundation roles come from his theater work. Ryan has been a part of productions such as My Fair Lady, West Side Story, and Dear Evan Hansen. The latter of which got turned into a movie recently, with Ryan reprising one of his roles from the theater production as Connor Murphy in the Dear Evan Hansen movie.

Despite his successful theater work, Ryan has yet to play a major role in a blockbuster. His turn as the somber Jed in the murder mystery series Poker Face is a good showcase of what he could bring to the DCU as Jason Todd. The actor's ability to play dark characters, as well as his theater work preparing him to act under the Red Hood helmet makes him a great pick for Jason Todd.

3 Aidan Gallagher

Aidan Gallagher is a shoo-in for the DCU as one of the new universe's many superheroes and villains. The 20-year-old actor had his breakout role in Netflix's popular superhero series The Umbrella Academy. While the series is filled with talented actors, there is no denying that Gallagher's performance as Number Five has become the show's main talking point. The actor excelled right from a young age in a violent setting.

Like Batman's Robins, Gallagher's Number Five fought crime from a young age, with the character showing a level of maturity and snark that made him The Umbrella Academy's most interesting player. During the first few seasons of The Umbrella Academy, Gallagher became the fan-favorite for the role of Damian Wayne; however, with the actor now older, he would be perfect to play Jason Todd, being able to deliver the character's sarcasm, action scenes, and heart.

2 KJ Apa

The Star Already Led A Major Comic Book Adaptation

KJ Apa has become one of the most famous young actors worldwide due to his lead role as Archie Andrews in The CW's Riverdale. The actor led the adaptation of the popular comic book franchise for seven seasons, with Riverdale having concluded its run in 2023. Now that he has more time on his schedule for other projects, the actor could the DCU as a slew of characters.

Apa is a popular fancast for Wally West, aka the Flash, and even got close to ing the DC world in the canceled The Wonder Twins movie. That project would not have been the best use of Apa, who showed over Riverdale's seven seasons that he has the charisma and dramatic skills to play a bigger character at DC, and the times the actor tapped into Archie's angrier side showed what fans could expect from him as Red Hood.

1 Tanner Buchanan

Finally, Tanner Buchanan is the best choice to play Red Hood in the new DC Universe. Not only is the actor the most popular pick to play the character — which worked in David Corenswet's favor to get the role of the DCU's Superman — but he has the credentials to play Jason Todd. From acting to fight experience, Buchanan has it covered to be the DCU's Red Hood.

The actor's most famous role is that of Robby Keene in Cobra Kai. In the Netflix series, the actor shares the screen with the DCU's first confirmed star, Xolo Maridueña, who will continue in the new universe as Blue Beetle. Adding to his fighting and acting experience from Cobra Kai and other roles, Buchanan wants to play Robin, so he would be easy to convince to the DCU as Red Hood, the second Robin.

The Brave and the Bold will introduce audiences to a new Batman in the DC Universe, focusing on the unique dynamic between the Dark Knight and his son, Damian Wayne, who takes on the mantle of Robin. This film marks yet another reboot for the iconic vigilante superhero.
