Catwoman Must Rely on Hush, a Genius Surgeon, to Save Her Life
Page from Catwoman #67 by Tini Howard, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Veronica Gandini, and Tom Napolitano
Hush is a major Gotham City villain who has tried to destroy Batman and Gotham several times. First appearing in the iconic Batman: Hush storyline by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, Hush — also known as Thomas Elliot — nearly destroyed Batman and even put a major strain on his relationship with Catwoman. Selina and Hush didn't really have any interactions in Hush's first appearance, but he left an unforgettable mark on Catwoman during the sequel, Batman: Heart of Hush by Paul Dini, Dustin Nguyen, and Derek Fridolfs. In this story, Hush captures Selina Kyle and removes her heart.
Catwoman #68 also serves as the final installment of Tini Howard's 30-issue run on the title, which began with Catwoman #39 by Howard, Nico Leon, Jordie Bellaire, and Tom Napolitano.
As villainous as Hush is, he's also one of the best surgeons in the DC Universe. Hush's medical skills are legendary, as he was able to get Bruce back up and working after a catastrophic head injury, and he's a skilled enough plastic surgeon to remodel his own face to look like Bruce's. Cutting out Selina's heart was an extremely easy task for Hush, but it was one that had long-lasting effects on Catwoman. After Selina regained her heart, she suffered physical problems for months, completely unable to do the acrobatics she was previously known for. Because of this, she's always hated Hush more than any other villain.
