Ahead of his appearance on The Real World: Austin in 2005, following many former cast ' footsteps by going on The Challenge. His debut season was Fresh Meat, where he developed a reputation as a strong competitor after going into the elimination five times and securing a spot in the final with fellow rookie partner All-Stars 2 alum Casey Cooper.

Duffy started on the franchise’s mother show Road Rules in 1999 for season 8, Semester at Sea, alongside fellow All-Stars 3 cast member Veronica Portillo. His early career on The Challenge started out as impressive after winning Challenge 2000, followed by two more lackluster appearances on the original Battle of the Seasons and Battle of the Sexes. His return for All-Stars came after an 18-year hiatus, where he managed to win the competition having never gone into an elimination using his adept social skills as well as athleticism to beat Darrell Taylor in a final, the only cast member who can take that claim.

Bergmann had shocking things to say about Duffy in an interview with The Challenge contestant Bergmann finished his frustrations by adding, “But he shows up in and hopes that we all roll out the red carpet for him and that he’s going to be treated like some angel of a human. He’s just as bad as the rest of us, if not worse, because he comes in under false pretenses.”

Bergmann has competed in 14 seasons of the flagship show since 2006. His last appearance was on Double Agents in 2021. He has made five finals and won two seasons, The Duel and Rivals II. He appeared on the spin-off series Champs vs. Pros and two seasons of Champs vs. Stars, making it to two finals. This will be his first appearance on Mark Long’s We Want OG’s Twitter campaign-inspired All-Stars edition of the franchise and the streaming platform Paramount+.

Reality star Bergmann appears to be working out some jealousy since Duffy’s return to the series, and his reignited luster to the franchise has a bit more shine despite the work and effort he has put in over continuous years to establish his status with the series as a top competitor. The claim that Duffy is one of the worst humans to grace the show is ridiculous and over the top. This could be Bergmann's way of indicating contrived drama between the two throughout the season. Now that T.J. Lavin has required everyone in the cast to have been a former champion to compete on The Challenge: All-Stars 3, it will be interesting to see how this rivalry develops on screen and whether a humble Duffy can avert the wrath of Bergmann since he'll desire the title of champion of the champions.
