Summary

  • Ashley Mitchell's exit from The Challenge: Spies, Lies and Allies was due to breaking one of the show's rules, leading to her deactivation for the rest of the season.
  • Ashley got into a heated confrontation with Josh Martinez, where she made hurtful comments and threw a cup, putting people in harm's way and violating production's standards.
  • Ashley's behavior was deemed unacceptable, similar to previous incidents that resulted in other cast being removed from the show. It is uncertain if she will return in future seasons.

In The Challenge season 39, it's time to catch up with Ashley and her strange exit.

Before the elimination challenge, host TJ Lavin addressed her absence to the agents, saying, “As you’ve seen, Ashley is no longer at the headquarters. Ashley has broken one of our rules. Because of that, Ashley can no longer stay in the game. She has been deactivated. She can no longer continue in this game for the rest of the season.” Ashley addressed the outrage from her fans over her departure with a cryptic response on Twitter, indicating that she understood she broke the rules and planned to change her behavior before returning for another season. She then said that she was mad at herself for her actions. Why was she officially eliminated?

Did Ashley's Anger Issues Cause Her The Challenge Exit?

Ashley The Challenge mouth open outside

Fellow cast mate Nelson Thomas shed some light on what happened in his Instagram Live. He explained that Ashley and Josh Martinez got into a shouting match, remarking that she “said some really terrible things that you should never say to anybody no matter who the person is or what they got going on in their life.” Ashley outed Josh by announcing that he was gay and that everyone knew about it. Nelson explained that Ashley was still intoxicated from the night before, and during her heated exchange with Josh the following day, Ashley threw a cup in front of production.

Ashley's Actions On The Challenge Were Unacceptable

One of the hard and fast rules on The Challenge is that players cannot put their hands on each other, or they will be automatically sent home. Although Ashley technically didn’t physically assault anyone, Nelson explained that her actions, “put people in harm’s way and [production] didn’t like that.” It's likely that Devin Walker and Logan Sampedro, along with Josh, complained to production about Ashley’s behavior and getting her fired.

Ashley wasn’t the first to get kicked off The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies due to inappropriate behavior. MTV severed ties with Dee Nguyen and edited her out of the remaining episodes. This happened after she tweeted racially insensitive comments about Black Lives Matter and George Floyd. However, while Ashley may return due to her tweet mentioned above, it seems unlikely.

The Challenge is available for streaming on Paramount+ Amazon Channel, Paramount+ Roku Channel, MTV, fuboTV, DIRECTV, and Apple TV.
