9:50PM, Rachel - And that’s a wrap on Warner Bros. and Day 2 of CinemaCon! A bit more of a chill presentation that expected, but ending on Superman certainly closed things out on a high note. us again tomorrow for Universal and Amazon MGM!

WARNER BROS. UPDATE

Brand New Superman Footage Flies Into CinemaCon

Warner Bros. capped off the evening with exciting new footage from Superman, which played out like this:

Begins with a couple shots of snow and ice, and then Superman crashing down (as we see in the trailer). He’s wheezing, bleeding, and can’t move. Then he whistles very loudly. We can see Krypto in the distance running towards Superman. He gets there and keeps bumping into Superman, who begs Krypto to stop, because he’s in pain. “Krypto, take me home. Home.”

Krypto barks and runs around, grabs Superman’s cape and begins dragging him. In the distance, we see the ice break out from the ground — the Fortress of Solitude. Krypto barks and the door (which has Superman’s emblem on it) opens. Multiple bots come running, “Superman!” They carry Superman into an OR-type room, which beams the sun down on him. As they carry him, he thanks the bots. “We mere automatons are here to serve,” one responds. Superman looks at one of them and that bot says, “Oh, he looked at me!”

We then see a couple shots from the trailer, but then a scene in a living room with Lois and Clark. “Superman,” Lois says. “Ms. Lane,” Clark responds, thus indicating he revealed his identity. We see several shots of all the superheroes in the movie, including Hawkgirl flying and Guy Gardner using his ring/powers. The trailer ends with Krypto whining in the background and Superman then flying away from the Fortress.

9:11PM, Rachel - After a detour into animation with the Cat in the Hat remake, it’s time for one of the most anticipated movies of the year… DC Studios’ Superman. Lots of high expectations on this one, and director James Gunn has brought his stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult to hype it up.

WARNER BROS. UPDATE

First 10 Minutes Of F1 Revealed

As promised, the breakdown of F1's first 10 minutes:

It starts with shots of waves crashing and a race, shown from the first-person perspective, at the same time. Someone then knocks on the window and Sonny (Brad Pitt) wakes up. He starts prepping for a race. After he’s ready, he gets out of a van. The screen reads 24 hours at Daytona, 11:56pm.

One of his team coaches tells him that they’ve dropped down to seventh and all he needs to do is hold them there overnight. He nods and gets into the car. We see lots of shots from in and around the vehicle, lots of the pit crew.

The announcer makes an announcement of Sonny ing the race, saying he’s got a ways ahead of him. Sonny then takes off and instead of holding his position, he tries to take over everyone in front of him. He jumps the sides, bumps into cars, flashes his lights at some of the drivers.

He and another drive get into a straight-shot drag race, bumping into each other. Sonny tricks him and that driver, in a BMW, goes off the track. Sonny finishes his stint as driver by taking the lead. He tells his replacement driver, “If you lose that lead, I’ll kill ya.” He walks into the back and says, “No way we can lose.” We then see the team winning, which is apparently Sonny’s first win at Daytona.

After the race, Sonny gets his stuff and leaves. It was a “one and done” situation for him. We then see Sonny in a laundromat, planning out a cross-country roadtrip. Javier Bardem’s Ruben arrives at the laundromat in fancy clothes and a fancy car. Sonny and Ruben are friends and catch up while playing pinball. Ruben tries to pitch Sonny a new job because his best driver left for a new team.

Ruben needs Sonny to do nine races otherwise he may lose the team. Sonny just laughs. It then cuts to an F1 course and presumably Sonny driving the car. The clip wraps up with various shots of the cast and races.

Weapons Footage

Opens up on kids going to school, with one teacher noticing that none of her kids were in class. A voice over from a kid says, “At 2:17 in the morning, every kid woke up, got out of bed, walked downstairs, and went into the dark…and they never came back.”

We then see parents arguing, police investigating, and other shots. Then the same teacher going back into that class and seeing every missing kid with their head down in the dark.

After a bunch of random horror shots (people screaming, stabbing themselves, etc.), the teaser wraps up on a door opening in the dark, and the kid saying, “This is where the story really starts.” Then it ends with someone in the woods, noticing a clown waving to him.

8:46PM, Rachel - After the scary with Final Destination Bloodlines and Zach Cregger’s Weapons, it’s time for some high-octane action as director Joseph Kosinski brings the first 10 minutes of Brad Pitt’s F1 to CinemaCon. Full breakdown to come!

WARNER BROS. UPDATE

New Final Destination Bloodlines Footage Revealed

Ahead of its release next month, New Line Cinema has shared gory new footage from Final Destination Bloodlines, which followed two brothers looking to cheat death by having someone take their place:

The two brothers are walking down the hallway in a hospital. They’re wondering how they can choose to kill someone, not knowing how much time those people have left. Then they look to the side and they see an NICU and briefly question killing a baby…very briefly. Then they go to a vending machine and choose something to eat - presumably to feed to one of them to kill, revive, and cheat death - and the bar doesn’t fall through the chute. So one of the brothers starts punching the vending machine, which cracks and hurts his arm. Then they try to tilt the machine, which almost falls on the other brother.

They go into a room and one of the brothers leaves. The brother that remains in the room starts to notice something happening: the MRI machine in the room turns on by mistake. He gets nervous, knowing something is wrong. At that point, the second brother comes back inside with a wheelchair. They start planning how the brother in the room, who’s now sitting on the wheelchair and eating the vending machine snack, is going to die and be resuscitated. (It’s assumed that he’s allergic to something in the food.)

All of this is happening while the MRI is powering up in the background. The brother (named Bobby) starts to react to eating the food. The other brother’s phone gets pulled to the MRI screen and hits something, turning the MRI on overdrive. That brother starts to get pulled apart. The wheelchair smacks him in the back and launches him towards the MRI, and it begins crushing him, bending his body into the machine. The other brother, Bobby, crawls over, grabs an EPI pen, and injects himself. As he tries to walk away, a metal piece from the vending machine launches towards the machine and goes through Bobby’s head. Both brothers are now dead.

8:20PM, Rachel - New Line Cinema, home to franchises such as Final Destination, The Conjuring, and Mortal Kombat, have stepped up to preview their projects. They have a lot to offer tonight, starting with…

8:16PM, Matthew Rudoy - Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! is up next. The bride is only in the original Bride of Frankenstein for three minutes and doesn’t talk, but this couldn’t be further from the truth in The Bride! I like the idea of giving the character more of a presence, along with having more of a literal and figurative voice.

WARNER BROS. UPDATE

New Footage From One Battle After Another

Following last week's trailer, a new peek at Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another was screened:

Begins with Bob (Leo) dialing a phone call, with the person on the other end answering, “Rise and shine.” Bob responds, “Yo, what’s up homie?” He goes off on a monologue, talking about how he’s done drugs and fried his brain, which is why he doesn’t know the answer. He threatens to hunt down the operator and stick a “loaded f*cking dynamite right up your assh*le.” He continues threatening the operator, who gives simple responses and keeps saying he feels uncomfortable being on the phone call with Bob. In the end, Bob asks to speak to the manager by saying he’s calling in a grey hawk 10. “I got him now,” Bob says to Benicio del Toro’s character. The sneak peek then ends with footage from the first trailer, with brief looks at Sean Penn and other of the cast.

8:05PM, Rachel - While promoting their new film One Battle After Another, Leonardo DiCaprio reflects on finally getting to work with Paul Thomas Anderson, saying, “I’ve been wanting to work with Paul for over 20 years now… I think with this film he’s tapped into something politically and culturally beneath our psyche.”

7:52PM, Rachel - Warner Bros. kicks things off with a sizzle reel highlighting major releases. We’re seeing stuff for F1, Superman, Mortal Kombat 2, and The Conjuring – seems like it’ll be a packed presentation.

7:35PM, Rachel - Welcome back, everyone! It’s just about time for tonight’s big event: Warner Bros.! Expecting some big announcements out of this one, perhaps for Superman, Dune 3, and the Lord of the Rings spinoff The Hunt for Gollum. You don’t want to miss this!

2:46PM, Rachel - Lionsgate is closing out the presentation with a performance from The Weeknd, timed to promote his new film with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The second trailer was revealed during the and is expected to arrive online shortly. What will it entail? We'll have to see...

LIONSGATE UPDATE

First Footage From The Housemaid

Amanda Seyfried, Sydney Sweeney, and Brandon Sklenar were on hand to reveal the first look at their highly-anticipated thriller The Housemaid, which is based on Freida McFadden's hit novel. Per Mansoor:

The trailer opens on Millie (Sweeney) driving to Nina’s (Seyfried) house, which is a mansion. Millie is shown cleaning, cooking, and helping Nina’s daughter with ballerina. We also see her on a tour of the house with Nina. Then the trailer turns dark as Millie discovers something. Lots of her sneaking around the house, Nina standing behind her, different scenes of them crying, screaming, running, etc. “I have a really good feeling about thism Millie,” Nina says. “Me too,” Millie responds. The trailer then ends with someone turning a key into a door.

2:36PM, Rachel - Thrilled to see Lionsgate is leaning into the fun with the Now You See Me: Now You Don't title, I can't wait to see the trailer when it finally arrives online!

Now officially titled Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the movie will reunite the original Four Horsemen and find them recruiting additional magicians to pull off a daring diamond heist: "8 magicians against a worldwide criminal network."

2:26PM, Zach - Keanu Reeves will return in a John Wick prequel anime film. Going the animation route allows the movie to show John completing his "impossible task" that got him away from The High Table before the events of the 2014 movie. Definitely an intriguing story.

2:23PM, Rachel - Though reports of John Wick 5’s development have been circling for some time now, I’m still a bit surprised it’s officially in the works. Here’s hoping the story it tells manages to be worthy of potentially disrupting the awesome ending of John Wick 4!

ScreenRant is coming to you live from CinemaCon! This annual convention for the movie theater industry is a key event for Hollywood – it's become the place for any studio releasing movies in cinemas to present their slate, and is often where posters, trailers, and footage for hotly anticipated titles are revealed for the first time.

This year's edition, held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, from Monday, March 31 to Thursday, April 3, could be especially big. After the one-two punch of the pandemic and 2023's Hollywood strikes sparked the "survive 'til 2025" mantra, theater owners need to see the film industry deliver some big hits. And the major studios will be eager to prove their 2025 slates have what it takes to revive a box office that has struggled so far this year.

Today is Day 2 of CinemaCon, and two studios are set to make their presentations. Lionsgate's is combined with a "State of the Industry" talk and scheduled for 9-11:30am local time (12-2:30pm ET), while Warner Bros. will follow in the afternoon from 4:30-6:30pm local time (7:30-9:30pm ET). Keep an eye on this space for SR's exclusive reporting from the ground!
