Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is packed full of mysteries and secrets just waiting to be unlocked, and believe it or not, one of the biggest secrets in the game is hidden right in the very beginning of the game during the Prologue. There is actually a set of hidden weapons you can only pick up during the Prologue in Clair Obscur once you've entered NG+, and you can only get them if you happened to hang on to those Festival Tokens from your previous playthrough.

By now you're probably familiar with the various Baguette outfits you can pick up by defeating the tokens at the festival during the prologue on one or all of the three available items. If you want to get your hands on the Baguette, hold on to those tokens for your NG+ run.

How To Get The Secret Baguette Weapon In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Use Your Tokens At The Baguette Stand In The Prologue

To unlock the secret Baguette weapons for each character, you need to hang on to your festival tokens from the Prologue. After the Gommage, you can get up to three different festival tokens: the first one is automatically granted when you enter the festival, the second one can be picked up by answering all of Antoine's trivia questions correctly, and the third is awarded for defeating Maelle in another duel. Crucially, if you want the Baguette weapons, do NOT spend these tokens at the festival.

The Baguette store can only be accessed before entering the festival, so it's impossible to get the Baguette weapons on your first playthrough because you won't have any tokens.

Now that you have your tokens, you'll need to forget about them for a while and go complete the entire game. You won't be able to access the Baguette weapons until the Prologue before entering the festival, which means you need to start a NG+ run in Clair Obscur. Just after meeting with Sophie, there is a bakery nearby with a basket of baguettes and a small table out front, with a sign that reads "Boulangerie." If you have tokens in your inventory, you'll be able to interact with this store and receive the Baguette weapons.

All Secret Bosses In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (& How To Beat Them)

There are three "secret" bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and each one is extremely difficult to take down if you're not prepared.

The Baguette weapon you receive is dependent on the character you use to interact with the shop, so choose wisely. For example, if you want the Baguette for Lune, you need to have her as your active character when interacting with the store. For obvious reasons, Gustave's Baguette weapon will also be available for Verso, and if you try to interact with the store with Sophie, nothing will happen. You can only have up to three tokens on your first NG+ run, so you'll have to enter NG++ to get the weapon for every character.

Secret Baguette Weapon Details & Upgrade Bonuses

The Baguette Deals Void Damage & Features Auto-Death

While the idea of a secret Baguette weapon is hilarious and exciting, the end results are a little underwhelming by the time you are actually able to get your hands on them. The Baguette weapons all share the same upgrade bonuses for each character, which is a further letdown considering you have to play through the entire game twice to get the Baguette for each character. All the Baguette weapons deal Void damage and scale with different attributes depending on the character.

10 Best Weapons In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

With so many weapons available in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for each character, these 10 are easily the best options for a range of builds.

I was really hoping each Baguette weapon would have unique bonuses for its associated character, but instead they all share the same three bonuses, which mimic three Pictos/Lumina effects: Auto Death, Second Chance, and First Strike. The upgrade bonuses for the Baguette weapon are as follows:

Level 4

Kill self on battle start.

Level 10

Revive with 100% health. Once per battle.

Level 20

Play first.

Overall, the Baguette weapons aren't really worth the trouble if you ask me. Unless you simply didn't spend your tokens and happen to have them on hand during your NG+ run, getting these items takes some prior knowledge, and in most cases players are going to spend their tokens at the festival. By the time you get these weapons in NG+, it's likely you already have better weapons at your disposal as well, not to mention the upgrade bonuses on the Baguette limit you to a very particular playstyle.

"The Baguette weapons will likely end up being more of a collector's item for most players."

If you do decide to use the Baguette weapons for any given character, they can save quite a bit of Lumina points, which is the main upside of the secret weapons. The associated Lumina effects for each upgrade are quite costly in of Lumina points, so if you're already running an Auto Death strategy on any character, the Baguette is a perfect weapon for the build. However, the Baguette weapons will likely end up being more of a collector's item for most players in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as it isn't the most practical item for most builds.
