Was Voit Killed At The End Of Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2?
Voit Was Attacked By Two Men While In Prison
Elias Voit is one of the most important characters in Criminal Minds: Evolution. He was first introduced as Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1’s main villain, “Sicarius,” and continued to be a nuisance for the BAU team in season 2. Even imprisonment didn’t stop Voit from playing his mind games and working with the “Gold Star” team by supplying them with information and tools to fuel the “North Star” conspiracy theory.
Voit continued to play a major role in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, as the BAU team was forced to work with him once again to help save Emily. In exchange for help finding Emily, Voit asked to be placed in the general population at his new prison. This was an odd request, as he enjoys being alone. However, they complied with his orders, leaving him in the general population under his birth name, Lee Duval.

Criminal Minds: 15 Most Memorable Unsubs, Ranked
Through 15 seasons, Criminal Minds created some of the most unsettling unsubs.
Yet, two prisoners somehow found out his true identity and attacked him. Whether Voit survived the attack at the end of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 is the biggest question that needs answering next season. It also raises the question of why Voit wanted to be with the general population, how the prisoners knew his real name, and whether he staged the attack. Voit likes to play the victim. If he survived, being attacked could work in his favor. Additionally, a past scene with Rossi suggests he could have been the one who leaked his name to the prisoners.
How Peter Finally Tied Gold Star Back To Douglas Bailey In Criminal Minds: Evolution
Peter Is Douglas Bailey’s Younger Brother
The big cliffhanger at the end of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 was who/what was “Gold Star.” The concept was first introduced by FBI Assistant Director Douglas Bailey, who became an ally of the BAU. Bailey’s knowledge about “Gold Star” also got him killed when he confronted Voit alone in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 finale. While the truth behind “Gold Star” was revealed earlier in this season, Bailey’s connection to the program wasn’t fully uncovered until Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2.
By the start of the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, every “Gold Star” program member had appeared except for Peter B. When he did appear, it was revealed that the B. stood for Bailey, and Peter was Douglas Bailey's younger brother. Thus, Douglas knew about the “Gold Star” program, the conspiracy theories Peter and the others got involved with, and had worked to stop them. He was unsuccessful, but he trusted the BAU team to pick up where he left off.
Peter was the first member of the “Gold Star” program and was allowed to leave Stuart House as an experiment to see if he could integrate back into society.
Bailey had tried to reach Peter through video messages, but Aida Limited altered them, which made him believe he was a victim of the conspiracy. When he and Jade kidnapped Emily in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, they accused her of killing Douglas and blaming it on Voit. Voit had created an app that scanned videos and revealed whether they were deep fakes or not, which ended up working against him when they used it on a video of Voit’s confession.
Peter and Jade were going to kill the entire BAU team and themselves, but they stopped him with the video. The confession confirmed Voit had murdered Douglas, not Emily. Peter had targeted Emily with Brian Garrity’s help and wanted justice, but he had also promised his brother he’d it if he was wrong. Peter and Jade surrendered to the FBI and freed Emily, so every BAU team member survived the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale.

Why Rossi Kept Hallucinating Voit Asking About Gold Star
Rossi Hallucinated Voit Asking A Specific Question
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 have been a big storyline for his character. While this isn’t the first time Rossi has been affected by an unsub, Voit might be the unsub who has gotten under his skin the most. This isn’t surprising, as Voit kidnapped and tried to kill Rossi and could be escaping justice for the killing he did as “Sicarius.” When Rossi survived the explosion at Aida Limited, he hallucinated Voit who asked him:
“Do you ever think if I hadn’t opened my mouth about Gold Star, none of this ever would have happened?”
This was a question that Voit’s vision repeated in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, even though Rossi said he wasn’t affected by Voit anymore. It was an interesting line, as Voit opening his mouth about “Gold Star” was what got him his initial deal with FBI Director Madison to drop the “Sicarius” charges. It also painted Voit as the mastermind behind everything happening with “Gold Star” in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2.
Rossi is haunted by the unsubs he hallucinates because he believes something is unresolved with them. This was evidenced when he hallucinated Tommy Yates in Criminal Minds season 12. Rossi’s hallucination of Voit saying that line specifically helped him make an important discovery in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale. It revealed that Voit was still manipulating them, and his “help” was actually a trap.

Tommy Yates' Character In Criminal Minds (& Why He Haunted Rossi) Explained
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, episode 6 featured a scene where Voit, Rossi’s current tormentor, referenced one of his past tormentors.
The Truth Behind BAU-Gate In Criminal Minds: Evolution Explained
JJ Found Out The Big Secret Behind BAU-Gate
As aforementioned, Voit had created an app that helped people identify whether videos were deepfakes. While he used this app to help Peter, Voit was also guilty of creating deepfakes of his own. Rossi wasn’t the only BAU team member whose skin Voit had gotten under. In creating the “BAU-Gate” website, which was a pornography site full of deepfake videos of JJ, he also got under her skin. He tried to do this again in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale when he brought it up to JJ.
If Voit was charged with filming non-consensual pornography, he would become a ed sex offender, which would make him a target in prison.
With her fears, JJ did her own research into “BAU-Gate” to empower herself. She found the sources behind the videos, which revealed that some of the videos were of his wife Sydney, with JJ’s face edited over hers. Voit had filmed the videos without Sydney’s consent, and JJ could hold this secret over him. Though Sydney had already turned on Voit, part of his defense was painting himself as a family man. If Voit was charged with filming non-consensual pornography, he would become a ed sex offender, which would make him a target in prison.
How Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2’s Ending Sets Up Season 3
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 Has Already Been Confirmed
With all the questions still lingering from the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, it’s a relief that the series has already been renewed for season 3. As established, the biggest one that needs to be addressed in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 is whether Voit survived his prison attack. If he did, it also opens potential storylines about Voit’s future in prison, especially now that his identity has somehow been leaked. If Voit is alive, he’ll likely continue playing a major role in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3.
The Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale also revealed that Tyler applied for the profiler job, and will likely get it. This would obviously change team dynamics, though Tyler has already shown he’s more committed to being a team player in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2. This isn’t the only potential change for the BAU. Emily had a meeting with FBI Director Madison after she was rescued in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale that suggested the BAU’s power, and potentially even their budget, could be increased in season 3.
The BAU’s budgetary issues and the threat of being disbanded have been a constant issue in Criminal Minds.
FBI Director Madison keeping the secret about “Gold Star,” and Peter could make him complicit in everyone who died at the program ’ hands. Emily used this to her advantage to help the BAU, and perhaps Peter and Jade as well. Emily saw them as victims, and while FBI Director Madison was ready to prosecute them, Emily wanted something different for them. It’s unclear what Emily asked him for in the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale, but Peter and Jade could stick around in season 3 if she gets what she wants.
