Cruel Intentions has gotten a TV adaptation thanks to Prime Video, and it introduces a new cast of wealthy teenagers who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Based on the 1782 novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, the 1999 movie Cruel Intentions introduced the audience to wealthy and ruthless step-siblings Kathryn and Sebastian, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. Cruel Intentions spawned a failed prequel and a sequel, and now there’s also a TV series that borrowed its premise but with a different setting and a new cast.

The Cruel Intentions TV series is set in a new university and focuses on wealthy step-siblings Caroline and Lucien. Caroline is the president of the Delta Phi sorority and Lucien is part of the Alpha Gamma fraternity, but when a group of angry students begins a movement to end all fraternities, Caroline makes a bet with Lucien to get her the Vice President’s daughter. However, Lucien develops feelings for his new target, and Caroline doesn’t like losing. Cruel Intentions stars a new cast, but it brings back one actor from the 1999 movie.
