CD Projekt Red has confirmed that high-profile E3 reveal of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2019 featuring Keanu Reeves also got fans excited, along with the promise of a large open world and in-depth story.

Unfortunately for those wishing to get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077, they are set to wait a few extra months. Developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the game will now release on November 19 rather than the original launch date of September 17. This news comes just a few weeks after the studio confirmed that the title give the studio more development time to improve the finished product.

Speaking on Twitter, the official for Cyberpunk 2077 revealed that the game will be fully backwards compatible with both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This means that anyone who purchases the game when it launches later this year will be able to upgrade it and play Cyberpunk 2077 on the new hardware completely free of charge. The studio later clarified that this would apply to both digital and physical copies of the title. However, the post did not detail exactly how this would work.

This latest announcement is in line with other features already announced for next-generation consoles. Microsoft has already detailed a new games that publishers opt-in to including within the system.

It is not that surprising that some publishers are also announcing similar initiatives. With the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X due out later this year, players might not want to purchase games like Cyberpunk 2077 knowing they would have to upgrade just a few months later. This way, publishers can ensure that as many s as possible pick up games as soon as they release rather than waiting until the next-generation consoles are available.
