A number of Cyberpunk 2077 players are falling in line behind the idea of getting to own the Mizutani Shion Targa MZT, a convertible sports car driven by Goro Takemura. More broadly, gamers appear to the notion of CD Projekt Red adding a car modification system, though that may depend on the developer's progress with bugfixes and next-gen upgrades.
Takemura is a former Arasaka bodyguard who plays a pivotal role in Cyberpunk 2077's story. Without entering into spoilers, the character becomes the most wanted fugitive in Night City, and quickly ends up entangled with V across several missions. In multiple instances, V's actions can decide whether Takemura lives or dies. The character is also one of the most stylish in the game, dressed as his former corpo service used to dictate. Appropriately, the Targa MZT isn't just a convertible model of the Shion - it's appointed with a sleeker look and drops the Mizutani logo from the front.
A Reddit by optimuschrist85 advocating for MZT ownership and car modification has widespread and is currently one of the most popular in the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit. The game does have similar vehicles - the MZ2 and the Coyote - but the former is non-convertible, and the Coyote is a nomad variant. There is a chance an MZ1 or MZ2 will spawn in the game world with the MZT's look, but it's impossible to buy the MZT itself.
CDPR could theoretically add car modification in later DLC, such as an expected "Customization Update," but that may focus on characters rather than cars. Leaks have suggested that there will be some form of car DLC, but it's impossible to tell when it might launch even if all the leaks are authentic. CDPR is still trying to solve some of Cyberpunk 2077's more glaring bugs, on top of which it has yet to deliver on all its planned PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades. The remainder should arrive in the second half of 2021, potentially a full year after the consoles launched.
PC players do have the option of installing the third-party mods to get the MZT's look. This, of course, leaves Xbox, PlayStation, and Stadia players in the cold. CDPR has certainly expressed interest in fleshing out Cyberpunk 2077's content - but even more than most developers, it has to triage what it wants to add versus what will give gamers the polished experience it promised.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available to play on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
