CD Projekt RED just launched a teaser website dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077's free DLC offerings, which will release on an unspecified date early next year. The last word from CDPR about the content in question surfaced thanks to a hidden message in a video ahead of the game's launch a few weeks ago. Much like the new site, the video's message noted that players can look forward to the extra content in early 2021.
The studio has said in the past that it plans to employ the same post-launch content model that made The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's DLC so worthwhile. As such, in addition to the range of free offerings, it stands to reason that CD Projekt RED is also cooking up larger story expansions, akin to The Witcher 3's Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Presumably, similar details as they relate to Cyberpunk 2077's paid DLC will surface once the free content begins rolling out next year.
While the studio has yet to release specifics about Cyberpunk 2077's freebies, a new teaser site recently went live. Notably, the website confirms the RPG's free DLC remains on track for the previously announced early 2021 release. Fans looking for a certain date may be disappointed to learn this particular detail is still under wraps for the time being. The site does not include a hint as to when CD Projekt RED plans to lift the veil, either.
At present, there's no way of knowing what precisely the studio has in store for Cyberpunk 2077 freebies. The Witcher 3's 16 pieces of bonus DLC probably offers a bit of insight in this regard, though. In The Witcher's last outing, players received access to alternate costumes for Ciri, Triss, and Yennefer. Extra armor sets were also released for Geralt, alongside new hairstyle and beard sets, side quests, New Game+, and finisher moves. Suffice it to say, Cyberpunk 2077 could make do with similar additions.
Of course, the crew at CD Projekt doesn't only have its hands full with post-launch extras. Since launch, it appears much of the focus has centered on optimizing the overall experience, especially last-gen consoles. Cyberpunk 2077 hit store shelves earlier in the month in a pretty poor state. A glitch-laden experience affected many a player's enjoyment of Night City. Meanwhile, crashes and a host of other performance-centric issues culminated in a AAA game launch controversy unlike anything else in recent memory. Even Sony felt the unprecedented need to offer full refunds and delist the title from the PlayStation Store.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available to purchase on Google Stadia, PC, and Xbox Platforms. PlayStation players can pick up physical copies at retail stores.
