concerned about The Witcher 4, too. Since then, however, the game has improved a lot due to continuous updates that have addressed its worst problems, like bugs and FPS drops.

The game’s improvements have made it into one of the best RPGs of the past few years, thanks to its well-written missions and characters, elaborate gameplay possibilities, and overall world design. After its release, CD Projekt RED released the Phantom Liberty DLC for the game, offering dozens of extra hours of gameplay and additional narrative options that connect to the main campaign. Depending on how they tackle Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’s endings, they can even unlock new endings for the base game. The DLC was critically acclaimed, but it may not be the final expansion to the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 May Get A New DLC After Phantom Liberty

A Virtuos Writer Is Allegedly Working On New Content For CD Projekt RED’s Game

In fact, it seems like CD Projekt RED’s hit RPG may receive new content in the near future. According to a report by Game Rant’s Kyle Knight, which spotted a post on Reddit, Cyberpunk 2077 may get yet another DLC after Phantom Liberty. The post shared by Free_Carpenter151 on Reddit highlights a LinkedIn update made by a Virtuos writer. For reference, Virtuous is a studio that helped with the game’s Version 2.2 update. According to their update, they ed the studio in April to work on a Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel May Not Take Place In Night City

Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith hints that Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, Project Orion, might move away from the iconic Night City setting.

As seen in the screenshot post, their job is to analyze existing character voices to inform writing in new side quests. Their role also requires them to work with the game’s narrative designer on side quests for DLC releases. As reported by Game Rant, the job update was swiftly removed. Confirmed by Screen Rant, the writer’s updated Virtuos role on LinkedIn only states that they are collaborating with the narrative designer on content for various projects, without stating what these projects are, whether they are related to bringing new content to Cyberpunk 2077 or not.

New Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Could Push A Sequel Further Into The Future

However, It’s Likely The DLC Will Be A Smaller Patch

According to the leak, the wording chosen for the game’s content was “DLC,” which refers to able content. It’s unclear if this DLC will have the scope of Phantom Liberty, for example, or if it will be a smaller patch with a few updates. Even so, the Virtuos writer is allegedly working on new side quests, so players could expect more narrative content to engage with, even if not directly linked to a larger story arc or the campaign.

I Hope Cyberpunk 2 Fixes 2077's Biggest Issue With Side Quests

I love Cyberpunk 2077 and everything it has to offer, but there is a major issue with its side content that the sequel has to fix.

Based on the game’s status and the studio’s focus on the release of The Witcher 4, I’m more inclined to believe this will be a smaller DLC update rather than a full expansion. It’s impossible to determine exactly what this rumored DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 would cover, but if there are extra side quests, the team could be preparing a final story arc for players to enjoy as they bid farewell to the game. If this is the case, there should be no cause for concern about having the sequel pushed further into the future.

The studio has already stopped using its proprietary REDengine for The Witcher 4, exchanging it for Epic’s Unreal Engine. If a DLC is planned, they’d have to revisit the old engine.

However, if this is a large expansion like Phantom Liberty, players may have to wait longer for a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. Nevertheless, based on the leak, it does seem like CD Projekt RED has at least one final surprise in store for the game, and seeing that it’s allegedly already in development, it may not take long before players get a batch of new quests to play through in Cyberpunk 2077.
