The full upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 isn't expected until next year, but players on PS5 won't have to wait until 2021 to start reaping some of the benefits of playing on the newest generation of consoles. The Day One patch should start ing immediately upon putting the PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 into the PlayStation 5. This is considered the first "next-gen" step for Cyberpunk 2077.

So far, CD Projekt Red, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077, hasn't said exactly what this first step upgrade does. However, it's believed the upgrade will come with some graphical and frame rate improvements, as well as some faster load times. Overall, CD Projekt Red's first Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade may be little more than a PS5 backwards compatibility upscale, but only time will tell. Still, Cyberpunk 2077's Day One patch promises to bring some upgrades to the game for anyone who's playing it on PS5.

Thankfully, the upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 are completely free. Early PS5 adopters will have a chance to see a first step upgrade at launch, through the Day One patch. The full Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X should arrive sometime in 2021, although an official date hasn't been announced by CD Projekt Red yet.
