In today's fiscal year 2020 earnings call with investors, CD Projekt Red confirmed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 upgrades sometime this year. Such a confirmation came alongside a 2021 roap that reinforced CDPR's commitment to delivering free DLC for the sci-fi title.
The roap in question didn't offer specific launch dates, but it did feature two more interesting pieces of Witcher-related information. In addition to The Witcher 3's eagerly-anticipated upgrade, Spokko Games, a developer in the CDPR family, is presently working on The Witcher: Monster Slayer - a mobile AR title set to launch this year. CDPR also noted that "further development" has begun on GWENT, though what exactly that may entail presently remains a mystery.
Today, an FY2020 earnings call with CD Projekt Red's investors somewhat narrowed down when fans can expect the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. As relayed by Daniel Ahmad, a Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, both next-gen updates are scheduled to go live in the second half of 2021. At the time of writing, however, the studio has yet to further specify its release date plans. Details about what the updates will offer in of performance aren't publicly known, either.
Of course, there are still myriad questions that need answers. And it's unclear as to when exactly CD Projekt Red will be in a position to deliver the need-to-know information. After all, its hands are full with both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher. It is worth noting, however, that CDPR recently acquired Vancouver-based studio Digital Scapes, which has since been rebranded with the CD Projekt Red Vancouver name.
Such an expansion will prove integral in the years to come, especially since the group previously disclosed its plan to adopt a "parallel development" model for Cyberpunk and Witcher properties. Core games and able content across these two franchises will, thus, be produced in tandem starting in 2022. Interestingly, CD Projekt Red aims to implement online experiences into future projects, as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.
