Demi Lovato's best friend, Sirah, appears in her new series, Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil. Besides being Demi's friend and sober companion, Sirah is a Grammy-winning music artist. Her real name is Sarah Mitchell, and she is best known for collaborating with Skrillex on his hit single, "Bangarang."
Sirah talks about her experience during Dancing With The Devil. She recalled finding Demi using drugs at a party and being scared. Sirah said Demi didn't even know she was in the room. She went on to describe finding out about Demi's overdose from the press, after being on a long flight. She heard people gasping on the plane, talking about Demi. Sirah has a long history with addiction herself. Now sober, she used to be an alcoholic in her youth. Her father was also an addict, and died of an overdose, just like Demi's father.
Sirah is originally from New York, but came to Los Angeles when she was fifteen. After a troubled upbringing, included being arrested for vandalism and addiction, she started rapping while in LA. Sirah was homeless when she moved to California, and considered Union Station and a Jeep her home for a period of time. After booking some shows and managing her own tour in Europe, her career began. She was ed by Skrillex on MySpace, and they started collaborating. In 2013, they won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for their song, "Bangarang."
Since then, Sirah has released singles such as, "Shots" and "Pennylane."Besides her own discography, Sirah has worked as a writer on other songs. The hit, "Back To The Streets," by Saweetie featuring Jhene Aiko, was co-written by Sirah. The track hit number one on US Rhythmic radio in January 2021. Demi appeared in Sirah's music video for "Dead Beat" which features Skrillex, and featured Sirah on her song, "Waitin For You."
Sirah was instrumental in Demi's rehab and recovery as well. After Demi's 90 days in rehab following the overdose, Demi, Sirah, and their other BFF Matthew Scott Montgomery went on a trip to Bora Bora. Demi posted on Instagram about how grateful she felt to have friends who stuck by her in her darkest moments. "You were there to listen, without judgement and only love and I can never fully express what that means to me," Demi wrote, "You're the greatest friends I've EVER had and our future together is so bright."
Sirah feels the same about Demi. She posted a clip from Dancing With The Devil on Instagram when it premiered and called the singer "a phoenix out of ashes." The friend group is very tight and appears frequently in photos together. Demi's system is clearly strong if she can recover from such dark times. All of her fans are so glad that Sirah can continue to be there for Demi, and the two will undoubtedly have more musical success together.
