Summary

  • Élodie Yung is interested in returning as Elektra following her fellow Defeders Sage actors Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio's MCU reintroduction.
  • Yung expresses eagerness for Elektra to come back but stresses that it's not up to her.
  • Yung encourages fans to "ask Mr. Marvel" about her future since it's out of her hands.

Elektra actor Élodie Yung was recently asked about a possible return in the Netflix's Marvel content is canon, so Yung's Elektra could easily still be included, even though her character seemed to die. Marvel recently brought back Kingpin, despite it looking like he was killed in Hawkeye, so there is a precedent for fake-out deaths in the world of Daredevil.

While talking with toofab, Élodie Yung said she would love to come back as Elektra but made sure to let fans know it wasn't up to her. She urged anyone interested in seeing her return as Elektra to take it up with "Mr. Marvel" (likely referring to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige). Read her full comments below.

"Oh my gosh, I would love that. It’s so funny because my fans are like, 'Can you come back?' and I’m like, 'Ask Mr. Marvel, you have to ask Mr. Marvel for that, not me."

Yung is clearly enthusiastic about the idea of returning as Elektra, but unfortunately, the return isn't fully up to her. Still, if she is approached, it seems likely Yung would agree to come back. Though Daredevil: Born Again is already filming, a Yung could always return in another MCU project, or a possible season 2.

How Elektra Could Return In The MCU

Elektra Natchios looking at weapons in The Defenders

Élodie Yung's Elektra was last seen in the season finale of The Defenders. Both she and Daredevil were seemingly killed in a collapsing building. Daredevil was later found and recovered alive, but Elektra's body was never found. This ending leaves the door open for her return since her death was never explicitly shown in the show. Even if Elektra was originally meant to be dead in the Netflix series, that doesn't mean Marvel has to stick to the show's story completely.

The MCU version of Daredevil does seem to have at least some of his history intact from the Netflix series. However, it seems as though Marvel prefers to keep quiet on the amount to which Daredevil is MCU canon. This gives them some wiggle room to include what they liked and leave out what they didn't. Initially, Daredevil: Born Again wasn't even going to include mainstays from the Netflix series like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. Marvel may reverse course on Elektra at some point if Daredevil's MCU journey continues.
