love of expensive David Yurman jewelry. The designs they wear may be more than jewelry - I think they're symbols of the bond they share, which tell a story about the way that they've iced out other Brown family . In fact, the matching signet rings they've chosen, and Kody's pendant, seem to tell fascinating stories about who the two Sister Wives cast are today.

Kody and Robyn's jewelry appears to highlight their special bond, which has caused so much turmoil.

In over the fate of Coyote . Kody holds the reins - the exes are tired of taking orders. They don't consider him their boss anymore. One moment, Kody says he's going to sell the patch of land, of which he claims to own 97 percent. Then, he decides not to list the property. Meanwhile, Kody and Robyn's jewelry appears to highlight their special bond, which has caused so much turmoil.

Kody Wears A Blue Shield Pendant

Shield Symbolism Is Fascinating

When Kody chose a shield pendant, I think it's possible that he was telling the world that he wants protection from outside threats, from haters who watch the show to angry exes. It's definitely interesting that he chose a design that's all about defense. Kody's shield pendant has a classical shape, hearkening back to medieval times, and research on medieval shield symbolism may point to interesting insights about Kody's personality. See the pendant he wears below:

In the Reddit post, via Kody and Robyn's Vitamix blender is in the background - it retails for $341.

As with tattoos, jewelry is very personal - it's something that a person chooses because it resonates with them. Since Kody and Robyn are a united front, the David Yurman pieces they've chosen are meaningful. They've selected designs that set them apart from the other Browns. For example, Kody wears a shield pendant - it's bright blue, with a rugged box chain. Shields are used in war - they protect soldiers from attacks.

According to medieval shield symbolism, as per Medieworld, a blue shield represents "loyalty" and "truth." It's interesting that Kody would choose such a piece, perhaps unaware of its symbolism, as he's been called out for being disloyal to his now-exes and feuding with some of his children. As well, he's been considered dishonest for stringing along three wives for such a long time.

When it comes to Robyn, Kody's true love, he does embody loyalty and truth, but it could be argued that outside of their close-knit bond, he is often a different man. Robyn brings out the best and worst in him. He gives her love, but that pulls him away from the rest.

Kody often fancied himself a king of the realm... an ersatz King Arthur reigning over a sun-dappled Camelot. Perhaps his dreams for Coyote were about creating a literal kingdom where he could live with Queen Robyn and the other women. They would, one presumes, be a bit lower on the totem pole.

Kody's Camelot dreams ended in disaster - there were too many queens in his court! Throughout history, queens have fought for supremacy, even doing dirty deeds to bring other regents down. So, it's not surprising that the Brown family dynamic was like a particularly fraught moment from The Tudors.

In a Queen versus Queen incident, Queen Elizabeth I (The Virgin Queen) signed her own cousin's death warrant. She wanted to eliminate the threat that was her relative, Mary Queen of Scots. Royal courts are all about whispering behind the tapestries - when the skulduggery comes to light, it can be shocking. However, power changes people, often making them ruthless. They want to hang on to what they have at all costs - it's a Game of Thrones mentality.

During King Henry VIII's blood-soaked reign, he tried to remove the aging monarch, Katherine of Aragon, wanting to put his mistress, Anne Boleyn, in her place. Katherine stubbornly resisted the demotion. Anne got her way, but her luck ran out when her husband turned on her too. Her head was lopped off by a French swordsman.

Kody & Robyn's Love Tokens Send A Message

They're Centered On Each Other

That story illustrates the power games that happened in royal courts, as the fight for Coyote rages, as seen in the TLC clip above. A plural marriage with a patriarch in charge has strong medieval vibes, as women must do what men say. However, instead of guillotines and kangaroo courts, there are matching rings for King Kody and Queen Robyn, and no David Yurman jewelry for the rest.

There are tedious family meetings where everyone understands that Kody and Robyn are protecting their own interests. There is Kody and Robyn's spicy love life, which pushed the other women away. There is so much bad blood. People in plural marriages should try to dial down the favoritism - it doesn't help.

In a real relationship, there's only one queen, and when Kody wears his shield, it's probably because he always plans to protect his queen. He will fight to protect what he loves the most. However, he should make every effort to extend this spirit of loyalty and truth to his exes, who suffered for decades because he favored Robyn. He should also be as loyal and truthful to his children with other mothers as he can be. Then, he can really wear his blue shield with pride.

Kody & Robyn Wear Matching Signet Rings

They Are Luxury Items

Kody wore a bold new ring on Sister Wives - so singular was its design that Meri became curious. She asked what the ring meant. Kody was coy - he wouldn't give her a straight answer. However, it's been revealed that Robyn wears a matching ring. Both designs are signet rings by David Yurman. It almost seemed like the duo chose secret wedding rings, with Kody flaunting his and Robyn perhaps wearing hers in private.

Kody wanted to show his ring but didn't want to say what it meant. He wanted to keep Meri guessing, when it would have been all too easy to remove the design when she was around. This seems to show ive-aggression. He says he tried to protect Meri from his "romantic tension" with Robyn, but did he really? By flaunting a mystery ring, it seemed like he was trying to get a reaction. Why Kody's always trying to communicate with exes, openly or through covert actions, is anyone's guess.

It always seemed like he only wanted Robyn, so why invest all this energy in reaching out to another person, such as Meri, even via ive-aggressive acts? Kody's itted that he misses Janelle - he says they have a "karmic connection." He can't quite make up his mind about who he is and what he wants. He should be putting his energy into his relationship. The exes should live their own lives. With that dynamic, everyone can be happy.

When he tries to get a rise out of his exes, it seems like he cares about them and wants a dialogue with them, even though he's being mean. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. Kody needs to cultivate real indifference. It is essential to making his marriage work.

Kody and Robyn get shade for how they focus on one another, leaving the other Brown women feeling small. However, there is some hidden beauty in all of this. The more Kody favored Robyn, the more the less-loved (or unloved) wives had to develop as human beings.

They couldn't rely on Kody and had to learn how to fight their own battles. In doing so, they have become strong women with their own lives.

There's always a silver lining, but all the sterling silver David Yurman jewelry on this earth won't change the fact that Kody hurt good people who loved him. However, the fact that they left him was for the best. After they did, they began to find themselves and watching them bloom has been so satisfying. Meanwhile, Sister Wives' Kody and Robyn seem just the same, fighting petty battles over Coyote land when so much has happened, and it would be all too easy to just sell it and divide the proceeds fairly.

Sister Wives may be streamed on the Discovery+ platform.
