However, a heartbreaking belief of Gotham's best eco-warrior may have fans questioning on whether the couple will make it. In Poison Ivy #8 by G. Willow Wilson and Atagun Ilhan, Ivy is mutating as a result of FutureGas CEO Beatrice Crawley attacking Ivy with an aerosol that’s wreaking havoc on her powers. Ivy’s only hope is a worker named Janet who helps Ivy look for an antidote via a vine. However, Crawley is alerted to Janet's interference, all while Ivy slowly begins slipping into the Green. Thankfully Janet finds the antidote that Ivy needs, and after a brief confrontation with Crawley, Ivy receives the antidote and is able to unlock her powers once more. Through narration, Ivy reveals that one day she's ultimately going to the Green for good, but for now, she can take care of her opponent.

Ivy And Harley Have A Serious Afterlife Problem

Poison Ivy on the Green DC Comics

Like all plant elementals, Ivy is called to the Green instead of Heaven or Hell. Which is all well and good except that the Green is exclusively for beings like Poison Ivy or Swamp Thing. Average humans like Harley, on the other hand, aren’t eligible for the Green. And while both realms have debated on which would ultimately take her, Harley has already been confirmed to spend her afterlife in either Heaven or Hell, putting her and Ivy's relationship in jeopardy.

No matter what happens on Earth, most heroes in the DC Universe tend to wind up with their partners in the afterlife. The Superman and Lois Lane of Earth-2 reunited in heaven, and the Elongated Man and Sue Dibny carried on their relationship and detective business as ghosts. Unfortunately for Harley and Ivy, they seem to be on two very different tracks towards their ultimate destinations. Even if Harley and Ivy spend the rest of their mortal days on Earth, the latter is going someplace Harley has no way of getting to. Fans curious to read more into Ivy’s thoughts and what it means for her and Harley Quinn’s afterlife can read all about it in Poison Ivy #8, on sale now.
