Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Batman #130DC Comics has made a solid argument for the best Batman has had a collection of Boy Wonders over the years in Gotham, his third Robin uniquely sought out the position after he figured out Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight were one and the same. As such, the latest issue of Batman confirms that Tim Drake thrived under Batman's leadership more than any other Robin.
Previously in recent issues of Batman, the Dark Knight has been grappling with Failsafe, an AI created by his darker personality Zur-En-Arrh to terminate Batman himself if he ever started killing criminals, the one line he's sworn to never cross. Thanks to Penguin framing Batman for murder, Failsafe was unnecessarily activated to eliminate Batman by any means, incapacitating the Dark Knight's allies from the Justice League and several of the Bat-Family. However, Bruce and Tim managed to flee the city.
Following a harrowing encounter with Failsafe on the moon, Batman returns to Earth in the new Batman #130 from Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jimenez, reuniting with Tim who'd been helping Superman recover from his own battle with the powerful robot. Now, Batman and Tim's Robin forces as the Dynamic Duo once more in an attempt to introduce comion into Failsafe's programming. As such, the battle allows Batman to point out the key advantages of Tim's Robin by his side compared to the first two Boy Wonders.
Batman Compares Tim Drake To His Past Robins
While Dick and Jason brought their own techniques to the table which would help them become their own heroes after leaving the Robin mantle behind, Batman clearly ires Tim who dutifully follows his training and deploys their shared maneuvers to the letter. Although Bruce's fourth Robin and biological son isn't mentioned, Damian's rebellious personality and superiority complex suggest Tim would also have him beaten when it comes to teamwork. It should also be noted that recent comics have seen Damian gradually drifting away from his role as Robin to likely become his own hero as well.
Tim is set apart from the other Robins because he still enjoys ing Batman as his Robin, seeing the value in his continued role by Bruce's side. It's probably why he's inevitably kept the title all these years rather than taking a new and more permanent name as Dick and Jason have, becoming Nightwing and Red Hood. With this new issue confirming that Tim thrived the most from being Batman's partner, it s the argument that he should have the title of Best Robin. Batman #130 is on sale now from DC Comics.
