In the lore of Marvel's Ultimate Universe 2.0, the world is ruled by a cabal of evil supervillains, including some familiar mutant faces, most notably Colossus. In order to usurp this reality, the villains used time travel to wipe out the world's most iconic heroes before they had a chance to actualize themselves. However, as Ultimate Wolverine, in particular, has progressed, it has become clear that there is a greater degree of resistance to the world order than previously thought, notably in the form of the mutant "Opposition."

Oh Wow, I Can't Believe X-Men Is Reclassifying This Iconic Villain as a Good Guy
Marvel has done the unthinkable by transforming one of the X-Men’s most heinous and irredeemable villains into a good guy, worthy of the title hero.
Wolverine was, at one point, a leading member of the Opposition, but the first five issues of Ultimate Wolverine have featured him brainwashed and turned against his former allies, including devastatingly being sent to assassinate Nightcrawler and Mystique. Now, Logan has much to atone for as he res the Oppositions ranks, alongside Forge, Beast, Polaris, Kitty Pryde, Gambit, and more, as part of an all-time powerful X-Men line-up. However, fans immediately turned their attention to the question of how Ultimate Phoenix will fit into this group.
Jean Grey Is The Final Piece Of The Puzzle The Ultimate X-Men Need To Fall Into Place
But Liberating "The Phoenix Specimen" Won't Be Easy
A previous issue of Ultimate Wolverine revealed that, much like Logan, Ultimate Jean Grey is a captive of the villainous world rulers; known as "the Phoenix specimen," who is hooked up to a nightmare-fuel version of Cerebro, which includes the disembodied brain of Charles Xavier. Now, with Wolverine once more on the heroic side of the equation, it seems likely that the series will turn its attention to the liberation of Jean Grey, as the next step in the Ultimate Universe's overarching battle between the forces of good and evil.
Fans can take satisfaction in the fact that the Ultimate X-Men are one step closer to being a united front, and they have the potential to be more dangerous than any team before them.
Considering how ubiquitous the Marvel Multiverse, it is safe to speculate that he will be the one spearheading a rescue mission, but when, and how, that will come to , and whether it will succeed, are questions that readers must wait to have answered by subsequent issues of Ultimate Wolverine. In any case, fans can take satisfaction in the fact that the Ultimate X-Men are one step closer to being a united front, and they have the potential to be more dangerous than any team before them.
