These ticket sales figures for Deadpool & Wolverine will undoubtedly be welcome news for those at Marvel Studios. Since 2019 and the release of Avengers: Endgame, it is no secret that the franchise has failed to live up to the impossible box office standards it set before the culmination of the Infinity Saga. No MCU movie has managed to gross over $1 billion since Endgame except for Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, both of which are projects that see any profits go to Sony Pictures rather than Marvel Studios.

If a film with such promise underperforms, it could only push audiences further away from the MCU's future.

Deadpool & Wolverine could see the MCU finally have another $1 billion hit. As the only MCU release of 2024, it is integral to the future of the franchise. If a film with such promise underperforms, it could only push audiences further away from the MCU's future. However, if Deadpool & Wolverine is a major, $1 billion success, it will go a long way to helping the MCU regain a lot of the momentum it has lost in recent years. If the early Fandango ticket sales are anything to go by, the latter certainly seems the more likely outcome.
