Why Are Deadpool & Wolverine Fighting In Deadpool 3?

The Movie Features R-Rated Action

Deadpool and Wolverine are shown fighting in a few different locations in the new teaser for the MCU movie. Old shots of the two trading blows in a wasteland in the Void and inside a car in a forest return in the new teaser. At the end of the trailer, new footage with both characters can be seen. Deadpool and Wolverine find themselves at the end of a fight, as Reynolds' Wade Wilson hilariously comments on how he was taking his knife out of Wolverine.

While multiple Deadpool & Wolverine trailers have been released, the story behind the two characters fighting has not been made clear. However, seemingly before the two start fighting in the Void, Deadpool questions Wolverine about his universe, and given how the character failed his universe — though what that exactly means has yet to be revealed — that could lead to Wolverine getting irritated and lashing out against the Merc With a Mouth, resulting in their bloody fight in the Void.

Deadpool is on a mission given to him by the TVA, and while he recruits Logan, Jackman's Wolverine has shown no indication of being willingly on board with the plan in the movie's trailers so far. Two highly violent characters who do not see eye to eye are forced to band together, leading to the inevitable friction that was expected. However, with Cassandra Nova and other villains along the way, Deadpool & Wolverine could see its two main heroes becoming friends — or at least not wanting to kill one another — by the end of their adventure.
