While Deadpool is known for his zany and macabre antics, he has been rather consistent with his costume. That all changes in Deadpool vs. Thanos #4 when he gets a vibrant and very different new suit. However, he also gives himself a terrible — and hilarious — codename.

The classic black and red bodysuit is Deadpool's best-known costume and his most iconic. It's hard to beat such a well-known look, especially since it has consistently appeared in the Deadpool movies. However, on occasion he will dive deep into his closet to find a wacky new look, or he will get a power upgrade that provides him with an alternate appearance. This was the case when he faced off against the Mad Titan Thanos in a match-up to save reality from being destroyed.

Deadpool Got His Craziest Suit By Saving Eternity From Thanos

Deadpool with Cosmic Powers

In Deadpool vs. Thanos #4 by Tim Seeley, Elmo Bondoc, Ruth Redmond, and Joe Sabino, Thanos engages in a fight with Eternity, which could cause the destruction of life as it is known. Deadpool steps in and gains a power-up from the Uni-Power, granting him the powers of Captain Universe, who is the protector of Eternity. Instead of taking on the usual moniker, Deadpool dubs himself "Pool Captain" and gets to wear a suit that combines his iconic look with that of Captain Universe. Of the many options Deadpool tests out, including "Captain Deadverse" and "Captain Uni-Pool," none is worse than Pool Captain. However, being the best at being the worst is exactly where Deadpool excels.

Nonetheless, Pool Captain is a terrible codename that needs to be left in the past. But his cosmic upgrade and outfit are stunning and true highlights of this four-issue miniseries. Deadpool is granted two power-ups within the series. The first time, Deadpool attracts Thanos' ire by becoming Death's champion, before he realizes destroying Eternity might not be the best idea. When he later wields the Uni-Power, Deadpool is granted the ability to manipulate matter, as well as Uni-Vision, allowing him to "feel the heat of a neutron star a billion-light years away." This awareness provides him with greater power than he has ever had before and easily could've put him on a major power trip. But Deadpool has proven that he's a better hero than anyone wants to give him credit for.

Captain Universe Plus Deadpool Equals — Pool Captain?Deadpool Beats Thanos with New Powers

Deadpool's new power is gone at the conclusion of the issue and the universe is effectively saved. While it's unlikely that Deadpool will ever don this suit or wield the Uni-Power again, having it in the first place proves that he can rock several looks — as well as responsibly use immense power. Although being responsible may be uncharacteristic of the mercenary, it does speak to Deadpool's lesser-known sense of justice that has saved the Marvel Universe more times than any hero within it would want to it.
