The best idea for a the numerous surprise cameos to Deadpool’s official introduction to the MCU, there was so much to enjoy about the film. Of course, the most highly anticipated part was Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, and it showed how great the Deadpool character is when he has a partner to bounce off of.

The MCU is just getting started with Deadpool, and he’s sure to make another appearance at some point. It’d be great to see him reunited with Wolverine once again, but there’s already another hero’s name being thrown around as Deadpool’s future partner in crime. Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy previously spoke about his desire for a Deadpool and Spider-Man team-up film. It’s a genius idea that Marvel should definitely take advantage of, but it’ll have to come at the right time in the timeline for it to truly work.

A Spider-Man & Deadpool Movie Would Be Great (But Only After Spider-Man 4)

If there were to be another future Deadpool team-up, it being Spider-Man would make the most sense considering how well-established Peter Parker already is in the MCU. The pair already have a wealth of story tie-ins in Marvel Comics and there would be more than enough content to experiment with. The two characters already have an entertaining dynamic, and Ryan Reynolds and Tom Holland would surely bring it to the next level. However, as great as Levy’s pitch is, Marvel will have to wait before they consider his idea, at least until Spider-Man 4 comes out.

Unless the MCU wants to ruin the pathos of that film, audiences have to see the impact that those events had on Peter before they can give Spider-Man any more projects with a comedic tone.

The MCU’s Peter is going through an extremely rough patch considering how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended. He’s currently alone in the world with not even a single person ing him, and Marvel clearly intends for this to be a learning opportunity for the character. The reason why No Way Home feels so bittersweet is because the ending is a devastating fate for Peter. Unless the MCU wants to ruin the pathos of that film, audiences have to see the impact that those events had on Peter before they can give Spider-Man any more projects with a comedic tone.

Deadpool & Spider-Man Could Be Perfect As Spider-Man 5 Or Deadpool 4

Not much has been confirmed about Spider-Man 4 just yet, but it’s safe to assume that Peter will be dealing firsthand with the consequences of Doctor Strange’s spell. He’ll probably spend the film exploring his identity, not just as a superhero but as normal Peter Parker, and that experience will prepare him for the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. After that development, it’s fair game for Marvel to start experimenting with the character again, including a potential team-up film.

A Deadpool and Spider-Man team-up film would make for a perfect potential Spider-Man 5 or Deadpool 4. It’ll probably be a while until a possible Spider-Man 5 comes out, considering that Spider-Man 4 is only coming out next year, so it’s easier to imagine a Deadpool and Spider-Man film as a follow-up to Deadpool & Wolverine. However, it could also be an interesting direction and tone for the Spider-Man franchise to go in with how Spider-Man 4 turns out. Either way, the perfect idea for a sequel is there, and Marvel would be smart to keep Levy’s pitch in mind.
