per its latest trailer, Death Stranding 2 is a sequel to the 2019 original that saw Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges embark on a journey to rebuild a fractured nation by connecting a string of small, disparate settlements via a novel technology called the Chiral Network.
Although it received a mixed reception at launch, Death Stranding was incredibly popular, in no small part due to the involvement of legendary creator Hideo Kojima. As such, some new story details, though, Death Stranding 2's new trailer also revealed that the game will be available for purchase in three different editions - Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector's - plus some preorder bonuses. Here's every edition available for Death Stranding 2, and how much it'll set you back.
What's Included In The Standard Edition (& Much It Costs)
The Standard Edition Is The Simplest Package
The Standard Edition of Death Stranding 2 costs $69.99 USD, reflecting the most recent standard in pricing for triple-A games. It'll be the same price for both the physical and digital editions.
Death Stranding 2 will be released as a PS5 exclusive, although it may be ported to PC later like the first game.
Unsurpsisingly, the Standard Edition of Death Stranding 2 comes with the game, and that's it. If you do happen to preorder it, you'll gain access to the preorder bonuses listed below, but you'll have to pay extra for these other goodies.
What's In DS2's Digital Deluxe Edition (& How Much It Costs)
A Few Bonuses
The Digital Deluxe Edition of Death Stranding 2 is slightly more expensive at $79.99 USD, but it comes with a few more bonuses. Unlike the Standard Edition, and as its name implies, the Digital Deluxe Edition is only available as a digital - you won't receive a physical copy. Everything included is listed below:
- Battle Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Boost Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Bokka Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Machine Gun (MP Bullets) LV1 early unlock
- Patch 70: Quokka
- Patch 71: Chiral Feline
- Patch 72: Why Me?
As you can see, all of these bonuses are in-game items, and most appear to be equipment-focused. You get three pairs of exoskeletal legs to equip, each of which may grant you different effects: for example, the Battle Skeleton may give you extra armor or HP, while the Boost Skeleton may improve your speed. It's unclear what the Bokka Skeleton may do, but it's named after the real-life bokka couriers that inspired Death Stranding.
In addition, you'll gain early access to an in-game machine gun; presumably, this will become available to all players later, but preorders of the Digital Deluxe Edition let you use it earlier. You'll also get three different patches, which are likely just cosmetic items. One depicts a smiling quokka (weirdly a running theme here) with the caption "HAPPY," another is an adorable cartoon depiction of what's described as a "chiral feline," and the third is a red, downward-pointing triangle with the words "Why me?" written on it in white.

Death Stranding 2 Is Carrying Over The Worst Aspects From The First Game
Death Stranding 2 will have a number of new revolutionary gameplay features, but it is also holding onto some of the worst ones from the first game.
Finally, players who preorder either the Digital Deluxe or Collector's Editions of Death Stranding 2 will receive up to 48 hours of early access to the game, being able to play as early as June 22, 2025. Typically, early access launch times vary by region, but this is only expected to be announced closer to release.
What's In The Collector's Edition Of DS2 (& Much It Costs)
The Complete Package
The Collector's Edition of Death Stranding 2 is by far the most expensive at $229.99 USD, but of course, it also includes the most add-ons - and it's the only edition to come with physical bonuses. Everything included is listed below:
- 15-inch Magellan Man statue
- Art Cards
- Letter from Hideo Kojima
- 3-inch Dollman figurine
- Collector's Edition box
- Battle Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Boost Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Bokka Skeleton: Gold (LV1, LV2, LV3)
- Machine Gun (MP Bullets) LV1 early unlock
- Patch 70: Quokka
- Patch 71: Chiral Feline
- Patch 72: Why Me?
Again, all the digital rewards from the Digital Deluxe Edition are included here, plus a handful of physical bonus items. That list begins with the Magellan Man statue, which depicts a figure from the game that resembles a giant angel made entirely out of dripping, black tar - except for its head, which looks suspiciously like the cockpit of Metal Gear REX. Magellan Man is closely associated with Heartman in the most recent trailer.
In addition, if you purchase the Collector's Edition, you'll receive a series of at least three displayable art cards, featuring images of Tomorrow, Higgs, and what looks like Sam. You'll also get a letter from creator-director Hideo Kojima himself.

Every Actor In Death Stranding 2 (& What You Know Them From)
Although not all characters in the recently-announced Death Stranding 2 have been revealed, the known cast list has both new and returning actors.
The Collector's Edition also comes with a three-inch figurine depicting Dollman, the marionette character played by director Fatih Akin in Death Stranding 2. It might be more accurate to call this a keychain or phone charm, as he comes with a little loop of string you can use to attach him to various surfaces.
Finally, just like the Digital Deluxe Edition, preordering teh Collector's Edition gets you up to 48 hours of early access to Death Stranding 2. Further details will be revealed closer to launch.
