Ultrakill is a super-violent FPS that pits players in a future of full cybernetic killing machines that now rule the planet. There's non-stop carnage and players will blister their fingers trying to stay alive. Not only are their standard drones to plow through, but also towering bosses to break down, as well. One boss, in particular, is the Cerberus and this guide will explain how to defeat him.
Published by New Blood Interactive, Ultrakill is a new indie first-person shooter that brings a nostalgic vibe to its design due to its 90's inspired aesthetic. It's a hyper-active game that flourishes in its minimalist approach to how its combat and gameplay mechanics work. The basic story is about how humankind is now extinct and the only beings that are thriving on its surface are bio-mechanical humanoids that power themselves up through blood. All of the blood in the world is now starting to dwindle and now these machines are breaking into the pits of hell in search of more. Of course, it's not without saying that there are legions of monsters that don't take too kindly with this idea. Players will need to fight their way through all the layers of the underworld in order to quench their thirst.
To date, there are only a few firearms to choose from. The kicker is that ammunition is unlimited in Ultrakill and players are free to go hog wild with their shooting sprees. Clearly being inspired by Doom and Quake, gamers that played these games during the '90s will slip right into Ultrakill's mechanics like old comfortable pair of boots. Players can jump fairly high to gain the advantage during combat, plus they can utilize a 'stomping move' that enables them to slam down on enemies like insects. The move set available for players will provide them quick escapes from certain doom through a handy sliding move and mid-air dashing. The enemies will rush at players non-stop and they will come in generous hordes of potential cannon fodder for players to douse themselves in their blood. Since this game has an 'old school' arena-based format, there's going to be bosses that will act like 'gatekeepers' to the next level. Therefore, players will need to focus on their patterns and study their signals in order to eventually beat them.
Beating The Cerberus In Ultrakill
The Cerberus will be encountered at the end of Level 0-5. It's a tall, lumbering statue that comes to life and will proceed to attack players with a variety of projectile and melee attacks. The main thing to look out for is its stomping attack that'll send a shockwave across the floor. That will take a chunk out of the health bar. Therefore, be sure to stay in the air and try to beeline its head with a charged shot with the pistol. If players are having a difficult time dodging its attacks while using the pistol, then the ideal weapon to use will be the shotgun. It will do whatever it can to corner players and if this happens, keep wailing on it to soak up its blood and try not to panic.
Once the first Cerberus' health bar is half-way depleted, the other one will come to life and there will be two of them to deal with. Just keep staying in the air and zip around to dodge its attacks. If possible, get behind them and crouch behind their knees. Blast their legs with the shotgun and melee attack them to score some life. Just be sure to watch out for the signal of its stomping attack. If players line up their attacks, they can actually damage each other. Just don't depend on that strategy solely, because it is a rare occurrence. With a constant stream of headshots and movement, players will chip away the Cerberus' health bar and they will eventually tumble down.
