Warning: contains a preview of Devil's Reign #5!

In new cover art for an issue of the miniseries Devil's Reign, the Devil's Reign #5 depicts the Mayor of New York grasping Earth's Mightiest Heroes, with all parties covered in blood-red streaks resembling the American flag. This series is all about Wilson Fisk's grab for ultimate power, and it seems he may just get it.

In this six-part miniseries, New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk is on a warpath to gain complete power in America by, as revealed in the conclusion of Devil's Reign #1, angling to run for U.S. President on an anti-superhero platform. Starting in New York City, Fisk lays out his platform: under his watch, superheroes are outlawed, and will be taken down by any means necessary. Fisk draws quick opposition from the Big Apple's mightiest, with Tony Stark scheming to run against him for mayor, Luke Cage throwing down with Shocker and police in the streets, and Captain America announcing to fellow heroes he's ready to fight, no matter the cost. But Fisk knew there would be retaliation, and has prepared accordingly: alongside the NYPD, the former Kingpin has enlisted the Thunderbolts, which currently includes the likes of Dr. Octopus, Carnage, Electro, U.S. Agent and the Taskmaster, to enforce his hero ban.

Marvel Comics recently released its March 2022 solicitations. In Devil's Reign #5 by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, the miniseries all about Wilson Fisk's war on superheroes reaches its penultimate issue, with Fisk seemingly getting everything he wants — just in time for his dastardly alliances to come back to haunt him. This issue's synopsis reveals that, while Fisk has been able to control his lackeys through fear and ruthlessness, those tactics aren't working, because "Fisk's lackeys aren't scared of ANYTHING anymore, even him," and it looks like the Avengers may be part of the collateral damage. Check out the awesome cover for Devil's Reign #5 by Marco Checchetto below, showing off Fisk's All-American attire adorned in blood.

Devils Reign 5 Cover

Checchetto's cover is absolutely striking, not shying away at all from the violence this miniseries has brought to the table. With Fisk making his run for President, it's only fitting that he'd be brash enough to incorporate the flag into his outfit, while the streaks of blood covering himself and the Avengers finish off the ensemble. But with the solicit teasing trouble in paradise for Kingpin and his lackeys, it begs the question: Is that the Avengers' blood, his own, or perhaps that of the villains he's losing control over? Check out the issue's synopsis below.
