The new expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley, called The Storybook Vale, has a variety of new quests to complete for never-before-seen characters. One such mission will ask you to get an item called the Royal Net, which you can use to fulfill other objectives in the DLC. To unlock this tool, you have to solve a tricky puzzle first toward the beginning of the expansion's new content.

Once you meet the requirements to enter The Storybook Vale expansion in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need to interact with the characters named the Lorekeeper and Merida. According to a conversation with the Lorekeeper, their magic is fading due to the conflict between Hades and Maleficent. The Royal Net is crucial to fixing this problem, so you need to find it as soon as you can.

How To Unlock The Royal Net

Upgrade Your Pickaxe And Form The Right Picture

You can start looking for the Royal Net immediately after you rescue Merida at the start of The Storybook Vale's story content. When you speak to the large book in the room where you begin the DLC, you'll learn that the Royal Net is in the same room as the Lorekeeper. Unfortunately, there's no initial way to break the many Petrified Wood obstacles in this space until you find a way to upgrade your Pickaxe.

Head over to the shining bag that belongs to Merida, then take the potion from it. Doing this unlocks a hidden feature in Disney Dreamlight Valley where you can apply the potion to your Pickaxe to upgrade it for the remainder of the expansion. Destroy all the Petrified Wood in the room with the Lorekeeper to reveal two wooden pillars within that space.

The pillars control a series of wooden rings on the room floor, which have intricate patterns. You need to use both pillars to form a picture on the ground depicting Sleeping Beauty. This can get a little tricky, as each pillar has unique controls that can be hard to understand at first. With some experimentation, you should realize that you need to:

• Turn the Right Pillar's Ring Three Times
• Turn the Left Pillar's Ring Two Times

When this has been done, you should have the image of Sleeping Beauty formed, causing a circle at the center of the image to rise. This reveals the Royal Net, which was hidden under the set of rings you just manipulated. All you need to do now is approach the Net and interact with it to play a short cutscene where your character claims it.

How To Use The Royal Net

Catch Snippets To Restore Magic

The Royal Net is used throughout the expansion to capture Snippets, or small pages that have been torn out of the Lorekeeper. Gathering Snippets helps restore the Lorekeeper's magic that has been weakened through Maleficent and Hades' conflict in the DLC. Snippets can be found everywhere in the Storybook Vale area, so getting the Royal Net unlocks an ever-present mechanic.

This item from The Storybook Vale can be used quite easily, as you only need to use the right mouse click or the Spacebar key to try and catch a Snippet. Mobile players may have a different input, but it should not be too difficult. You will want to have the Royal Net equipped to your character at all times, so you can catch any Snippets you see as you explore the expansion's new region.

One of the best ways to spot a Snippet is to get wings for your character and fly around the Storybook Vale. The bird's-eye view you have while flying will make it far easier to track down loose Snippets that are hard to see on foot.

The Royal Net can be controlled to do a horizontal or vertical swing to better catch Snippets you come across. You can spend some time practicing your technique, but the best strategy to catch a Snippet is to simply chase it down. The closer you are to a Snippet, the less chance you have of missing a chance to catch it using the Royal Net.

When you have completed the puzzle, you can start tracking down Snippet collectibles or complete more missions tied to the expansion's story.
