Aladdin's Magic Carpet has been confirmed to be en route to Disney Dreamlight Valley, but some fans have spotted a design inconsistency that hints at a second version of the carpet. The next update, Tales of Agrabah, marks the arrival of Aladdin and Jasmine to the Valley, along with a Flying Carpet companion. However, some elements from the update's marketing have caught fans' attention, raising some questions.

"Is it accurate advertising?" asks Reddit promotional image revealed earlier this week for the new update. The Redditor has circled the player, who's shown sitting on a flying Magic Carpet. This depiction makes it seem as though players will be getting a glider in the shape of the flying carpet, to have fans "gliding this way through the valley and/or Dreamsnaps."

Some fans in the comments have taken a closer look at the image, only to realize that the design on the carpet in the image doesn't match up to the design of the Flying Carpet companion. This has led some fans to theorize that there will be not one carpet in this update, but two.

Fans Theorize That Two Magic Carpets Could Be Coming To Disney Dreamlight Valley

Promotional Images Show Two Different Designs On The Carpet

Reddit Neyse highlights a screenshot of the player and the Flying Carpet, taken from the official announcement posted on the Disney Dreamlight Valley X . According to the announcement, the carpet will be unlockable as a "permanent companion," indicating that it won't be a glider.

Examining the carpet design in the still and the promo image, it's clear that the pattern is not the same on the two carpets. The carpet shown in the promotional image has a silhouettes of Mickey Mouse in the corners, making it look like a Dreamlight Valley version of the movie's carpet. The companion carpet revealed in the official video seems to be a more faithful recreation of the original carpet from the Disney animated film.

It's possible that this means exactly what it seems to mean: There might be two carpets in the game, one acting as a companion and one as a glider. It's also possible that the one carpet will act as both companion and glider, as Reddit's DarkChaosMystic suggests: "It would be really cool if he was a companion, but when you go to glide, you hop onto him and glide around." As fun as that would be, it's not very likely.

Our Take: The New Magic Carpets Could Be Locked Behind A Paywall

If A Carpet Glider Is Coming, It May Only Be Available For Real Money

If a Magic Carpet glider does fly into the game, it might be locked behind a paywall. If we don't count wings as gliders, there are only four gliders in DDV and all have been Shop items. This makes it extremely likely that if a Magic Carpet glider is introduced into the game, it will probably cost Moonstones to purchase.

Luckily, there are also some ways to earn free Moonstones in Dreamlight Valley, so resourceful players can potentially get a hold of items without spending any real money. At this time, Disney and Gameloft have not revealed whether a magic carpet glider is on the way to Disney Dreamlight Valley, but I wouldn't be surprised. It just makes sense, and the promotional image for the update certainly indicates that the carpet will be rideable.
