The Beauty and the Beast, all the way to toys coming to life in a suburban home in Toy Story, Disney has developed a wide array of worlds.
Nevertheless, by observing clues left behind by Disney creatives, fans have theorized ways in which all of the various universes of Disney are connected. These fan theories are ed by persuasive evidence, and it seems there is much more than meets the eye when it comes to both new and old Disney content.
Dory And Inside Out
In a scene in the 2016 Dory, audiences are brought to an aquarium that Dory finds herself trapped inside. Children cling to the glass as they watch Dory swim towards them. If audiences look closely they will see the familiar face of a little girl two people to the left.
The familiar face is Riley, the protagonist in Pixar's Inside Out. Although there are little to no further clues that connect these two films, audiences can infer that Dory takes place before Inside Out, as Riley appears much younger in the aquarium scene than she does throughout Inside Out. Additionally, Disney confirmed the cameo in Finding Dory was in fact, Riley.
Wall-E And A Bug's Life
When A Bug's Life. The plant has a similarly curved base to that of the tree and the resemblance becomes striking when looking at the two images side by side.
Fans have theorized that A Bug's Life takes place after Wall-E has saved the natural world. There is no human presence in A Bug's Life, however, when audiences are shown the underground metropolis near the middle of the film, it becomes apparent that the bugs in the film are familiar with human activity. Thus, humans were around and left, and the earth recovered without them.
Lion King, Hercules And Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Disney film chronologically. The lack of human existence and any advanced technology conveys the film's place in the timeline. Nevertheless, remnants of The Lion King appear in several films, which fans have used to make a convincing timeline of Disney films.
When Hercules becomes a celebrity in his film, at one point he is clearly shown wearing the fur of Scar, the antagonist in Lion King. At the roof of the tower in The Hunchback of Notre Dame viewers can see statues that vaguely resemble Pumba in a quick shot.
Aladdin, Princess And The Frog And Beauty And The Beast
Aladdin is the most frequently connected Disney film, as references to its 'world' are woven into classics as well as new productions. For instance, in The Princess in The Frog, Mama Odie is shown with a genie lamp when Tiana and Eudora plead to be turned back to humans.
In a brief scene where audiences look down on the busy cityscape in The Beauty and The Beast, those with close eyes will see the magic carpet in the top right corner. Allegedly, the personified, magic carpet was free to journey the world until being trapped in the tomb where Alladin eventually finds it.
More Aladdin In New Movies
According to fans, Aladdin takes place in the various 'new' movies such as Zootopia, Moana and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Fans believe rather than the lamp being left behind for these films, its inclusion in new movies portrays the lamp on its way to the world of Aladdin.
Brave And Monsters Inc.
Boo from Monster's Inc. was the little girl who was accidentally brought into the 'monster dimension.' In the heart-throbbing ending of the 2001 film Boo is separated from her newfound best friend, Sully.
Then, in many viewers may have missed this clue because of how quickly its shown.
Frozen, Tangled, Tarzan And Little Mermaid
Fans have found a common thread that connects The Little Mermaid. It all begins with Frozen where Elsa and Anna's parents are shown taking a voyage from Norway to , but unfortunately, a shipwreck leaves them lost at sea and presumed dead. The parents were on their way to Rapunzel's wedding.
Rapunzel and Elsa and Anna are cousins, which is alluded to when Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are briefly shown as they arrive at Elsa's coronation day in Frozen. It is believed that Elsa and Anna's parents survived the shipwreck and floated off to a deserted island where they give birth to Tarzan. Additionally, the shipwreck visited by Aerial in The Little Mermaid is thought to be the same ship that Estha and Anna's parents took to .
Little Mermaid And Cinderella
During the wedding scene in The Little Mermaid, perceptive viewers will notice that the Duke and King from Cinderella are shown attending the ceremony. The two characters are shown in only a brief shot but are included nonetheless, so there must be significance to their cameos.
Fans say the occurrence conveys how The Little Mermaid and Cinderella occur around the same time period, and that they share the same 'universe.' Since The Little Mermaid is so entwined with other Disney films, it must mean that Cinderella is too. Possibly, Disney could be working on ways to connect the story of Cinderella to works, similar to the way they constructed Frozen in 2013.
Little Mermaid And Hercules
According to Greek mythology, the gods Zeus and Poseidon are brothers. In the Disney universe, Hercules is the son of Zeus while Ariel is the daughter of King Triton, another figure in Greek mythology, and the son of Poseidon.
Thus, if a dedicated fan were to work it out, then it is apparent that Ariel and Hercules are cousins. However, fans aren't too sure how this connection affects the overall timeline of the Disney films. Hercules and The Little Mermaid most likely don't take place at the same time period, as the infinite lifespan of the gods could explain why Ariel and Hercules are born in different periods.
Beauty And The Beast And Tarzan
Fans have theorized that Jane from Tarzan is a descendant of The Beauty and The Beast. This connection stems from their yellow attire, similar fathers in of physical appearance, and quirky, scientist personality, as well as the teapot collection the explorers brought to the jungle that has a striking resemblance to Mrs. Potts and the other talking teacups.
It is also worth noting that The Beauty And The Beast are referenced in Aladdin when the Sultan is shown with a puzzle tower of animals that clearly includes The Beast's head.
