Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland anime is set to arrive in October 2025, based on the announcement presented online and in its newest trailer, which not only features stunning animation but also the first major scene where the main character arrives at Night Raven College. One look at this short snippet should not only excite fans of the original game but anyone who is interested in a Disney and anime twist, as it proves to be one of the most promising adaptations of a mobile game.

Back in 2020, Walt Disney Japan and Aniplex teamed up with the game developer, f4samurai, and the creator of Black Butler, Yana Toboso, to release a game based around the villains of the Disney franchise. This gacha RPG gained quick notoriety for its beautiful art and homages to many branches of classic tales that have been given a “twist” all as the player explores the world where Disney villains are praised for their remarkable feats rather than scorned.

Disney’s Newest Isekai Anime Brings Twisted-Wonderland’s Beautiful World to Life

Twisted-Wonderland’s Anime Faithfully Recreates Its Stunning Characters and Setting

Though fans only get a short glimpse of the anime’s potential in the reveal made back in AnimeJapan 2025, there’s still a lot that can be discerned from first trailer. Showcasing the prologue where Yuuken Enma first arrives at Night Raven College gives everyone a glimpse of most of the characters’ transition to anime. Not only does the trailer reveal nearly half of the House Wardens, but Head Mage Crowley, Grim, and various important scenes around the college are depicted, such as the school itself and the Mirror Room.

Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland anime will be adapted from the manga, Book of Heartslabyul, written by Wakana Hazuki and illustrated by Sumire Kowono.

Twisted-Wonderland the Animation has beautiful visuals, taking full advantage of the magical landscape to amp up the color palette of Night Raven College. The vibrancy of these familiar scenes is sure to strike a nostalgic chord for players of the game, as the anime does a gorgeous job of portraying the world. Characters like Riddle Roseheart and Leona Kingscholar are exceptionally stunning, with Riddle’s bright eyes reflecting the lights and flames of the Mirror room after confronting Grim.

Using a mix of animation and visual effects, the flames taking over the room blend in well with the background and exhibit the heatwaves emitting from Grim’s fire without looking out of place or overly animated with CGI. Twisted-Wonderland’s anime will be directed by Takahiro Natori and Shin Katagai, written by Takahiro Natori and Yoichi Kato, while the same Takumi Ozawa from the game’s soundtrack contributes to the music.

The Game and Manga Behind Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland Anime

An Exceptional Story-driven Game With Beautiful Artwork and Incredible Characters

A common misconception surrounding Twisted-Wonderland is that it features the Disney Villains as the students; instead, they are core representations and values set for each House at Night Raven College. The story does make many homages to classic villains, with each chapter centered around the students making grievous mistakes from the fairy tale story that only the main player character is aware of. There are definitely some similarities between the characters, such as Riddle Rosehearts and the Queen of Hearts, but only because he imbues the core teachings set by the House he was assigned.

It’s the MC’s task to not only find a way back home, but also to help with the incidents breaking out around Night Raven College. As the player, however, this role is relegated to leveling up the student individually through the cards that are won through the limited-running gacha banners or events. Strengthening their abilities can help tackle the battle sequences in the story to unlock further chapters down the line.
