Because of Goku and Vegeta in the Dragon Ball universe. Just a few years after discovering his golden form in Dragon Ball Super's second saga, Frieza has shattered his limits once more to achieve an even stronger state.

While Frieza remained an enemy of Goku despite their partnership in the Dragon Ball Super anime, the character no longer seemed as dangerous to the heroes as he once was. As Goku and Vegeta's power increased, Frieza's threat level dwindled. However, the manga has since put to an end to that through a massive power upgrade. Thanks to time spent in a Hyerbolic Time Chamber of his own, Frieza has achieved a brand-new, black form which has made him strong enough to contend with Dragon Ball's top two Z-Warriors. Presumably, Black Frieza is the manga's new main villain for the foreseeable future.

Orange Piccolo Should Fight Black Frieza

Based on how battles in the Dragon Ball franchise usually play out, the general expectation for this story is that'll conclude with Goku somehow finding a way to beat Frieza. But due to events that took place in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Dragon Ball has another candidate for Frieza's main opponent. Similar to Goku and Vegeta, Piccolo has a personal history with Frieza that would add a great deal of intensity to any fight between them. Not only were his people decimated by Frieza in Dragon Ball Z, but Piccolo died at the villains hands during the Golden Frieza Saga.

ittedly, the franchise has already offered a Piccolo vs. Frieza fight, but a rematch stands a chance at being a completely different experience for both characters. Piccolo impressed Frieza by physically challenging his first three forms, but was ultimately too weak to keep up with him. But after his wish to Shenron granted him the orange form in Super Hero, Piccolo is now a force to be reckoned with again and a character who should be capable of earning Frieza's full attention in a fight. Since his Orange Piccolo form is seen as a transformation that represents the connection between Shenron and the Namekian race, Piccolo going up against one of their most hated enemies (and potentially winning) would be especially meaningful for the manga.

How A Piccolo vs Frieza Rematch Could Go In Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Z Piccolo Vs. Frieza

Had Orange Piccolo fought Frieza before the latter accessed his new form, it's not hard to imagine the Nakemian emerging the victor. After all, it's been confirmed by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama that Piccolo is as strong as Goku and Vegeta now. But given how easy Frieza dispatched Goku and Vegeta in Dragon Ball Super, Piccolo beating Frieza in a one-on-one fight isn't likely anymore. That being said, his teamwork with Gohan against Cell Max in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and his use of strategy against Frost in the Universe 6 Saga proves that Piccolo is indeed capable of overcoming stronger opponents, though it may take some assistance from some of his fellow Z-Warriors.
