Dragon Ball fans are busy creating new tier lists since Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has recently been released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The anime and games share many similarities, mainly in that no character is created equal. Many favorites have returned, including many power stages of characters like Goku, Vegeta, and even Majin Buu. The high-speed 3D fighting game is perfect for fans of the classic Dragon Ball Z anime, paired with the ability to create teams of legendary heroes and villains and fight against other players.

As with any fighting style game, techniques and personal styles come at the forefront of character preferences, but some characters are certainly better damage dealers than others. This list only covers a fraction of the Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, so the placement of each character is based on design, combat abilities, and current damage rankings, not solely their popular tier placement.

10 Broly Legendary Super Saiyan (Z)

Fully Powered And Has A Mighty Ki Ultimate Blast

The tier of best playable characters in Sparking! Zero is full of supreme Saiyans, angels, a God of Destruction, and other powerful beings. Many of these characters feature huge health bars and quick movements, making them difficult to fight in the story and competitive modes. The Legendary Super Saiyan (Z) form of Broly is fully powered and has a mighty Ki Ultimate Blast.

Dragon Orbs are a great way to easily get through alternate paths in Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, as they'll lower the difficulty of matches.

Broly boasts a high-speed rush and a large radius for the explosive wave. His Super Attack features a reference to the first movie in which he appears, as he makes a comment that refers to his planetary destruction. His huge power base and the subtle references to the anime make Broly a top contender for one of the best playable characters with a roster this large.

9 Jiren - Full Power

The Antagonist's Full Power Form Boasts Many More Challenges Than Expected

The Dragon Ball Super antagonist, Jiren, has returned to the screens of players and his Full Power form boasts many more challenges than expected. As a key battle in unlocking some of the other characters, the sheer damage capacity of Jiren Full Power has guaranteed his spot among the top playable characters. Although Sparking! Zero's transformation mechanics lacked Jiren's Full Power form in pre-release content, players overlooked it as Jiren is said to dominate in ranked matches in Sparking! Zero.

The What If? Mode provides players with the opportunity to play through scenarios that alter storylines from the anime. For Jiren, players can complete a scenario that plays out as if Jiren succeeded in the Tournament of Power and made his wish, the primary part of his character arc in the anime. For these parts alone, Jiren is a great character to feature on any player's team roster.

8 Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé

A Great Set Of Skills And An Interesting Design

Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé is a new and powerful form introduced by Dragon Ball Super and features a great set of skills and an interesting character design. This new pink-haired version of Goku Black is considered a high-ranking character for its strong blast attacks and lower Ki Bar costs for stronger attacks. The Godly Display Slash is a strong rush attack that boasts quick movement, making this a hard character to keep up with.

Not only is Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé a strong opponent, but the voice lines at the beginning of each fight between some of the other playable characters are incredibly entertaining.

Not only is Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé a strong opponent, but the voice lines at the beginning of each fight between some of the other playable characters are incredibly entertaining. Each version of Goku reacts to fighting Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé, acknowledging that the only thing stronger than Goku is Goku. In of strength and entertainment value, this transformation of Goku Black is tons of fun.

7 Golden Frieza

The Best Version Of Frieza That Is Available To Be Unlocked

This sparkling transformation of the iconic villain comes from an obsessive desire to defeat Goku, and Golden Frieza might be able to if played correctly in Sparking! Zero. Although there is a power difference between the True Golden Frieza and this version of Golden Frieza in the larger canon, the ability to become True Golden Frieza from the Blast 1 Skill provides a way to access that level of power.

Although the path to unlocking this character may be difficult, the damage output and overall ability of Golden Frieza make it worth putting in the effort to unlock the character. This is the best version of Frieza that is available to be unlocked by completing the line of challenges regarding the character.

6 Toppo, God of Destruction

A Powerhouse In Online Competitive Matches

Although this God of Destruction only seems to hover near the top of A-Tier rankings by players, Toppo appears to be a powerhouse in online competitive matches. As Toppo, God of Destruction, has moved beyond the binary of justice and evil, his primary attacks focus on spheres and flashes of destruction. There is iration to be given to Toppo's commitment to destruction since his godhood, but his almost broken ability to continue grabbing players through specific combos makes him a formidable player to keep in a team.

Using Toppo, God of Destruction in ranked teams requires some patience and dedication to learning how to time grabs for an advantage. The purple aura of Toppo's form paired with his sheer musculature creates a daunting appearance, so keep him in mind for any brawny teams.

5 Fused Zamasu

The Self-Healing Ability Makes This Character Interesting

While there is some discussion about Fused Zamasu's tier ranking compared to the corrupted version, the technique Immortal Body greatly boosts his ranking through competitive play. The returning fight offers a lower Destruction Point cost as well, making it a more cost-effective fighter to unlock. Although it technically rates lower than the half-corrupted version in some of the popular tier lists, this does not properly for the technical differences, even if it is accurate for the anime.

Fused Zamasu's focus on justice gives him interesting attacks with a level three Ki Bar cost per attack, outside the empowered Immortal Body technique costing four per attack. The self-healing ability makes this character one to watch in ranked matches.

4 Gogeta Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Super)

Many Players Look Forward To The Extra Abilities This Version Offers

Currently among the top-ranking damage dealers, Gogeta Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Super) is one of the ones to watch in competitive play. Many players look forward to the extra abilities and damage abilities this version of Gogeta offers, as despite costing 10 Destruction Points, his Blast 1 Skills have very low costs compared to some stages of the other playable fighters.

This version is considered to be the strongest of Gogeta's forms that is available and is akin to a godlike being due to having a power level of over 2.5 billion if using the context of the original canon. The blue design of SSGSS Gogeta makes it a compelling look compared to some of the others, giving it additional bonus points.

3 Beerus

An Ancient Mighty God Of Destruction

At the start of the top three positions, Beerus is an old God of Destruction and happens to be a well-designed purple Sphynx cat. Beerus shares some animations as his angel companion, Whis, and is incredibly fast. The stun ability that Beerus employs paired with his quick movement skills makes him a formidable opponent, often to the point of being overpowered.

This deity's design in this game is true to the original style and works well for the way that the animation of each move has been designed. Although many find that players can run out of his total arena destruction technique with some big effort, it has not happened enough to be considered a foolproof plan of defense.

2 Whis

Second In Rank In More Than One Way

This angel is second in rank in more than one way, as Whis is extremely high-powered and can auto-dodge specific attack patterns. This ability to auto-dodge combos and Ki Blasts does not use any Ki, unlike when this ability is used by Ultra Instinct Goku. This alone makes him a top-tier character, and his entertaining audio cues with moves make him a favorite to watch.

Unfortunately, Whis does not feature a partner Ultimate move that pairs with Beerus, as their connection pairs them together inexplicably. Many are hoping that this connection will be acknowledged further in later patches.

1 Goku Ultra Instinct (Super)

An Incredible Damage Dealer With Chargeable Energy Beams

This ranking is absolute, as no list would be proper without featuring Ultra Instinct Goku as the best playable fighter in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. As the final transformation of the previous level, the Ultra Instinct -Sign-, version, this very mindful version of Goku has an increased level of power and also has the ability to auto-dodge specific combos of attacks but at the expense of Ki. Unlike some of the other God-Tier characters, this version of Goku comes at the price of nine Destruction Points.

The sheer scale of Goku Ultra Instinct (Super)'s overall power makes him one of the absolute best players that characters can use in both ranked and solo play.

The sheer scale of Goku Ultra Instinct (Super)'s overall power makes him one of the absolute best players that characters can use in both ranked and solo play. Players looking for an incredible damage dealer with chargeable energy beams and interesting mechanics in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero can look no further than the man himself.
