Along with its massive roster of over 180 characters, one of the best parts of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is its "what-if" scenarios, like whether you should work with Piccolo or go it alone against Raditz. These optional deviations from the canon timeline are what make the game stand out among other titles that came before. Such as with the "The Earth's Mightiest Duo?!" when playing through Goku's saga, you can take alternative story paths in the Dragon Ball Z and Super timelines.
The original battle against Raditz in the anime took all Goku and Piccolo had working together, with the former even losing his life. The opportunity to see where different choices could change Kakarot's fate is an interesting selling point for those well-familiar with the story. When you're done figuring out how to get Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, this alternative timeline avenue is well worth exploring.
Should You Work With Piccolo Or Go It Alone?
Try Out A New Story Path
If you're a Dragon Ball veteran just starting Sparking Zero, you should decline to work with Piccolo since it provides the exciting "what-if" scenario episode called "Raditz vs. The Turtle School", where Goku teams up with Krillin as an alternative to Piccolo. If you're tired of watching the original anime fight being duplicated in the Dragon Ball games that have come before, this makes for the most unique experience in this mission. The end of the fight could even end up with Goku and Krillin getting help from Master Roshi and Piccolo too.

Everything We Know About Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero! DLC (So Far)
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has a number of pieces of DLC coming its way in the near future that will add additional characters and more to the game.
Krillin isn't among Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero's best characters, but his new role in fighting Raditz definitely spices the story up a bit. If you're feeling regretful about not getting to play through the canon story, there's no need to worry. You can simply go back to the episode selection screen and replay "The Earth's Mightiest Duo?!" to select the choice that reflects the canon timeline.
What Happens If You Work With Piccolo?
Another Opportunity Further Down The Line
Choosing to work with Piccolo in "The Earth's Mightiest Duo?!" will have Sparking! Zero's iteration of the fight against Raditz end up as it did in the Dragon Ball Z anime. Piccolo will fire the Special Beam Cannon at both Raditz and Goku, resulting in the latter's death. However, if you beat Raditz in a quick amount of time in that episode, you'll be able to save Goku's life in another timeline, referred to as the "Rematch and Result" Sparking! Episode.
To unlock "Pushing the Limit," you need to defeat Raditz as Goku during "Rematch and Result" in under two minutes.
In this alternative scenario, Piccolo will manage to kill Raditz with his Special Beam Cannon while Goku dodges it. In this new timeline, that means you'll be able to have Goku appear at the start of the fight against Vegeta and Nappa in the Sparking! Episode, "Pushing the Limit," followed by Great Ape Vegeta. After you've tried going it alone against Raditz instead of working with Piccolo in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, be sure to replay the episode with the other choice if you wish to see the original brawl against Goku's brother.
