Despite having ended over seven years ago, fans of has been on an extended hiatus with only one chapter released over the past year. In the time since the anime ended, however, the manga has introduced several new arcs that have yet to be put to animation, introducing new villains, techniques, and transformations to the iconic world of Dragon Ball.

One of those techniques, and arguably the form fans have wanted to see the most, is Vegeta's Ultra Ego. The answer to Goku's Ultra Instinct and a form exclusive to Vegeta up until this point in this series, Ultra Ego has yet to be featured in any Dragon Ball media aside from the manga in which it debuted. However, lucky fans attending the 2025 Puerto Rico Comic Con finally got a tiny sneak peek at the form, when English voice actor Chris Sabat recited one of his most popular lines.

The Legendary Voice of Vegeta Shared His Favorite Ultra Ego Line

Fans of the Dragon Ball franchise are likely familiar with the name Chris Sabat. Not only is he the long-time voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, and others, but the voice actor played an instrumental role in the popularization of anime in the West during the early 2000s. At a Puerto Comic Con , Sabat was asked what Dragon Ball Super manga line he was looking forward to the most, and he immediately slipped right into character to deliver it.

Ultra Ego Vegeta

The line he recited appeared in chapter #75, when Vegeta debuted his Ultra Ego form during the fight with Granolah. He said, "Kakarot's body may have a mind of its own, but I'm all ego." It may not be an official look at the anime version of the form, but the line is the closest thing fans have been given thus far. The clip, posted to X by OfficialKelbert, has been shared around quite a bit, and is prompting fans to once again beg Shueisha and Toei Animation for Dragon Ball Super's continuation.

The future of Dragon Ball without Akira Toriyama is somewhat uncertain. The creator's final contribution to the franchise, Dragon Ball Daima, wrapped up earlier this year, and there's been no official word on what's to come next for the four-decade-old series. Though the Dragon Ball Super manga returned with a special one-shot chapter this past February, it has since re-entered its lengthy hiatus. However, series artist Toyotarou cryptically shared that he soon won't have much time to spend on drawing detailed cover art for the series.

The Dragon Ball Super manga is still on hiatus, but when it finally returns, its Black Frieza arc will be a sight to behold after so many years.

Fans have speculated whether this means the manga will be returning soon. Without ongoing source material, it's unlikely Dragon Ball Super would return in a TV anime format, though original films like 2022's Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero are always a possibility. Producer Akio Iyoku has maintained that projects are in the works, though nothing is set in stone until official confirmation is given. Fans may have to wait a bit longer to see Ultra Ego in action, but thanks to Chris Sabat, they can at least know what he'll sound like.
