Madden to experience the fun of putting together an all-star team.
With College Football 25’s exciting new Dynasty mode already outclassing Madden’s Franchise mode, this new addition gives players yet another reason to get excited about EA Sports’ return to college football. EA is likely under pressure to ensure College Football 25 is a hit. After all, it has been ten years since its predecessor NCAA 14 came out, and it’s the company’s first time making a college football game without the NCAA branding. Fans of the old series likely have high expectations, and adding more fun game modes like Ultimate Team mode is a good way for EA to deliver.

EA Sports College Football 25: Release Date, Cover Athletes, & Edition Differences
Yes, EA Sports College Football 25 is real, and it’s coming out later this year. Here’s what to know about the revival of the series so far.
What Is College Football 25 Ultimate Team Mode?
Ultimate Team Mode Allows Players To Build The Perfect Team
College Football 25’s Ultimate Team mode allows players to create their own college dream team, using players from any team to create the optimal roster. Not only are players going to be able to choose current college players, but they will also be able to choose from younger versions of current NFL stars as a flashback to their college days. This allows players to assemble a team that perfectly fits their playstyle and has the talent to back up anything they want to pull off on the field.
Ultimate Team mode is a treat for fans because it allows them to experiment with the types of teams that would never exist in actual college football, or even the NFL. It’s also a lot of fun to see former NFL stars alongside current talent, to see what it would be like if they had been in college at the same time. Once players have fully assembled their Ultimate Team, they will also find that they are completing more es and gaining more yards on runs, thanks to having top athletes across the board.
Which Athletes Are Available In Ultimate Team Mode?
College Football 25’s Ultimate Mode Includes NFL Players
College Football 25 is EA’s first college football game in a decade, but Ultimate Team mode is helping make up for that lost time. Not only are there notable college athletes from the game available in Ultimate Team mode, but players will get the chance to include current NFL players like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and CeeDee Lamb on their teams. Younger NFL players like Joe Burrow — who didn’t start college until 2015 — never got to be represented in previous college football games. Thanks to Ultimate Team mode, players now have the chance to play as these fan favorites.
Aside from current NFL stars, players will also have the chance to play with retired NFL legends like Ray Lewis from his days on the Miami Hurricanes. Players can choose one of these legends as part of the Ultimate Alumni Player item that comes with pre-ordering the game. Otherwise, players will start College Football 25’s Ultimate Team mode with a starter team. Players will choose a college and be given some of the notable players from that school. Then, players can acquire new team as they progress.

Ultimate Team Mode Gives Players Challenges And Rewards Them With New Athletes
College Football 25’s Ultimate Team mode can be played against other players or the game’s AI. Aside from just playing typical games, players will be given a series of challenges that they will be tasked with completing during the game. When players complete challenges, they will earn coins that can be used to purchase new player packs. These packs will include new athletes that players can slot into their roster to upgrade their team. This means players will want to focus on finishing challenges quickly to improve their team.
There is a button that will automatically generate the best roster for players who don’t want to spend too much time on team building and prefer to get right to the game. Otherwise, players can take the time to assemble a team they think is best. Each athlete has certain chemistries that allow them to work well with similar players. By paying attention to these attributes, players can make sure they have a team that will work well together on the field.
Aside from unlocking athletes with better stats, players can also unlock special abilities. These abilities buff players by making them less likely to fumble, throw more accurately, or be able to side-step the defense. Players are allotted a set number of Ability Points (AP), meaning they will have to think carefully about which abilities to equip to which players. It’s important to that with College Football 25’s Wear and Tear mechanic, players will likely want to allocate some of their abilities to their backup players.
Over time, new players and challenges will be released as a part of in-game seasons. These will likely be similar to a Battle that players might be familiar with from games like Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone. This means players will have a consistent flow of new content for Ultimate Team mode.
Is College Football’s Ultimate Team Different From Madden’s?
College Football 25’s Ultimate Team Mode Is Largely The Same As Madden’s
Many players are likely already familiar with Ultimate Team mode from Madden, and might be wondering if College Football 25’s version is notably different. Aside from players appearing on the teams that they played for in college, as opposed to their NFL teams, there really isn’t a big difference here. If players are already familiar with and enjoy Madden’s Ultimate Team mode, they will be happy with College Football 25’s version. While some players have expressed disappointment in these similarities, as reported by Sports Illustrated, College Football 25 still has enough unique game modes to set it apart from Madden.
If EA Sports continues to make college football games in the following years, it will be interesting to see if they make an effort to differentiate the two games’ Ultimate Team modes more. As of now, it seems like College Football 25’s Dynasty mode is what the development team really focused on making unique, so it’s possible Ultimate Team mode was more of an afterthought. Still, more game modes are never a bad thing, even if they are very similar to the ones from EA’s other football franchise.
