The creator of Marvel Studios has partnered with experienced comic creators to produce Ekos, revisiting a hero introduced twenty years ago. A new world is about to have its start, and could be one of the most anticipated comic projects of the year given its possible impact. Ekos is set to become a cinematic universe in its own right, but Screen Rant is excited to present an exclusive look at the cover art for the graphic novel's independent issues.

David Maisel is the founder of Marvel Studios, having funded and produced the media behemoth. He was an integral part of kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has seen immense success since Marvel Films rebranded with an innovative vision. He has since departed the company, but carries his love of comics into his latest work.

Grell stands at a profile angle on the cover of Ekos. He is furry with spots and long ears partially covered by long, stringy hair, a stern expression on his face.

A glimpse of Ekos was revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2024, which will kick off with Ekos Vol. 1, a graphic novel. This will precede what is intended to be a multimedia project and a new cinematic universe.

Ekos Vol. 1 has the creative team of J.T. Krul, Alex Konat, Peter Steigerwald, Mark Roslan, and Josh Reed. The story is inspired by the work of Geoff Johns and Michael Turner. The project will be launching its artists include Alex Ross, J. Scott Campbell, Francis Manapul, David Mack, Joe Benitiz, Siya Oum, Jerome Opeña, Khary Randolph, and Kendrick Lim. The synopsis is as follows:

Ekos introduces a new superstar in Grell, who embarks on a journey to discover the world of Ekos. On his journey, Grell encounters many of the beloved characters from Michael Turner's legacy, including superstars Aspen (Fathom) and Grace (Soulfire), as they forces with Grell on a shared mission. This marks the first time these characters have all come together in the same universe.

Ekos is set to kick off a multimedia cinematic universe that will include films and television series. This comes as a result of a partnership between Mythos Studios and Aspen Comics. Several characters from Aspen Comics will be part of this endeavor and will interact with each other for the first time. The project brings back creators who worked on the original stories inspiring the latest universal shift, including Krul (Soulfire) and Konat (Fathom), and Steigerwald, who worked on both series. The graphic novel is expected to release in November, but fans will have a chance to have it in individual issues.

Aspen Comics Enters an Incredible New Era with Kickstarter Campaign

The project brings back creators who worked on the original stories inspiring the latest universal shift, including Krul (Soulfire) and Konat (Fathom), and Steigerwald, who worked on both series.

Ekos was previously teased back in 2003, but as a full comic series did not come to full fruition until much later, following the death of Michael Turner. Now, the concepts and characters are set to return, but with a new vision ahead. A different story lies ahead of the hero, likely due to the crossover potential present within the comics' world thanks to the presence of additional Aspen Comics' characters. This ambitious endeavor will kick off a new era for Aspen with Joe Quesada's cover being one of many stunning options available for this project's ers.

Comic fans can Ekos Vol. 1 on Kickstarter beginning September 17th.
