Incantations in Elden Ring Nightreign are similar to Sorceries, and they don't require any special stat investment to use as they do in Elden Ring. As with Elden Ring, Incantations can only be cast from a Sacred Seal, but they can be used by any playable character as long as they have the FP to spend. Since Recluse has a built-in FP generator feature with her skills, she's the best bet for a pure caster class.

However, there are other ways to boost and regenerate FP that make using Incantations possible for any of the eight Nightfarers in Nightreign. Whatever your playstyle Incants are a useful tool that can give you an upper hand when you need it most. The best Incantations might be rare, but if you happen to come across them equipped on a Sacred Seal, be sure to add it to your arsenal. It will definitely come in handy when you take on the Nightlord.

10 Elden Stars: Create A Stream Of Golden Stars

Golden Stars Deal Damage To All In Their Path

Elden Stars is a powerful Incantation in Nightreign that expels a stream of spiraling golden stars that will hit all in their path and deal substantial damage along the way. This is a relatively slow-moving attack, but the damage offsets its lack of speed considerably. Elden Stars has a moderately high FP cost, so bear this in mind when you come across it during a match.

10 Best Sorceries In Elden Ring Nightreign

While it might be luck of the draw in of Sorceries in Elden Ring Nightreign, keep an eye out for glintstone staffs with the best spells.

This Incantation was pretty lackluster in the original Elden Ring, but Nightreign's version appears to be considerably more effective. Elden Stars deals holy damage to everything it hits, which comes in useful against Tricephalos, the first Nightlord.

9 Golden Vow: Buff The Entire Party's Attack & Defense

A Common & Highly Effective All-Purpose Spell

Golden Vow is my top recommendation for an incantation that will benefit the entire party, and you should grab it even if you don't intend to focus on spell-casting at all. Golden Vow increases Attack and Defense for yourself and all your allies within the nearby area. This is an all-purpose buff that will help every party member deal more damage and increase damage resistance. Golden Vow by itself will not be enough to take any enemies down, but it is one of many easily accessible buffs you can stack throughout a run to increase overall damage.

Most Sacred Seals will have spells you can almost guarantee are loaded on them, such as the Clawmark Seal's Bestial Sling.

Golden Vow is among the more common Incantations found on Sacred Seals, making it one of the few options you're almost guaranteed to find during a run, assuming you're checking for Sacred Seals in particular locations. Golden Vow is a simple yet incredibly useful spell that every party can benefit from.

8 Erdtree Heal: Vastly Heal All Nightfarers

An Essential Healing Spell For Any Playstyle

Whether you're playing as a healer or class or simply want to have an additional powerful healing option in your back pocket, Erdtree Heal is the strongest healing spell of the many different options in the game. The lesser versions of this spell are equally handy, and they include Heal, Great Heal, and Lord's Heal, as well as Quick Heal. These are all great spells to have available on a Sacred Seal if you haven't used up all your weapon slots, or if you're stacking your character with various spells.

Erdtree Heal is a somewhat costly spell in of FP, but hopefully it isn't one you'll need to utilize very often. This spell should be reserved for emergency situations where the entire party is low on HP and has very few Flask charges remaining, especially in the case of Nightlord fights where things can go south fast.

7 Lansseax's Glaive: Spread A Blanket Of Lightning

Lanesseax's Glaive Is A Top-Tier Lightning Incantation

There are quite a few different lightning Incantation options in Nightreign, but my top pick goes to Lansseax's Glaive due to its area of effect and its moderate FP cost. Pound for pound, this lightning spell will deal the most damage for the least FP when compared to most other lightning Incants. It spreads red lightning outward in an arc on the ground, then is followed up with trails of lightning that also deal damage.

All Legendary Weapons In Elden Ring Nightreign (Including Their Skills, Types, & Effects)

Legendary weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign are extremely powerful drops that can a game changer for your run, but finding one is pretty rare.

This is certainly not the most powerful lightning spell, but in my view it is more practical and more effective for a wider range of situations. It will help clear swarms of lesser enemies quickly while also hitting larger enemies, and it will obviously deal massive damage to any enemy that's weak to lightning. If you're going to be facing the Darkdrift Knight during Ironeye's Remembrance quest, for example, count yourself lucky if you come across a Sacred Seal with Lansseax's Glaive slotted.

6 Giantsflame Take Thee: Hurl A Raging Fireball

A Burning Fireball That Deals Substantial Flame Damage

Giantsflame Take Thee is among the best fire Incantations available, even if it is somewhat rare to come across. This is essentially a beefed-up version of the run-of-the-mill Flame Sling spell that is found on most common Finger Seals. For obvious reasons, it costs a bit more FP than the lesser Flame Sling Incant, but the FP cost is still pretty low considering the high amounts of Fire damage you'll deal.

"Whether you're incorporating spell-casting into your build or not, consider using this against the Sentient Pest if you're struggling to take it down."

Giantsflame Take Thee can be cast in relatively quick succession, and for such a high-damage Incantation that costs a moderate amount of FP, it's a pretty good bang for your buck. Whether you're incorporating spell-casting into your build or not, consider using this against the Sentient Pest if you're struggling to take it down.

5 Frenzied Burst: Cast A Beam Of Madness

Inflict Madness Buildup & Hit Enemies For High Damage

While there are a handful of great Madness-based Frenzyflame Incantations in Nightreign, my top recommendation is the Frenzied Burst spell. This is essentially a beam of Frenzyflame that inflicts Madness on the target as well as dealing ridiculous damage to targets weak to Madness, such as the infamous Equilibrious Beast. Further, you can charge Frenzied Burst to break an enemy's guard, which comes in extremely useful if you don't have another viable method for doing so.

Frenzied Burst is another moderate-cost Incantation in of FP, and it's definitely the best ranged Madness-inflicting Incantation you can find. I can't stress enough how much this Incantation will be a difference-maker during the Equilibrious fight, and if you're struggling to get past it, consider looking for more Sacred Seals during your next playthrough.

4 Discus of Light: A Top-Tier Holy Incant

Arguably The Best Source Of Holy Damage In Nightreign

Discus of Light is an extremely effective and efficient Holy damage Incantation, with an incredibly low FP cost of only 3 per cast for a spell that is able to deal thousands in damage and can be cast repeatedly. Discus of Light is guaranteed to be loaded on the Golden Order Seal alongside another random Incantation, so if you come across one and are on your way to defeat Tricephalos, do not it up.

If you're struggling to figure out a decent playstyle for Revenant, the Discus of Light will get you started in the right direction. The low FP cost and ability to cast multiple discs in quick succession work extremely well with her character skills and presets.

3 Scarlet Aeonia: A Flower Of Rot

Malenia's Infamous Scarlet Rot Attack

Perhaps one of the most iconic Incantations from Elden Ring, Scarlet Aeonia recreates Malenia's infamous second stage attack, creating a flower and eventually exploding into a massive cloud of Scarlet Rot. This will deal Scarlet Rot buildup and damage to all enemies within the plume, and it can be devastating when used properly. It's also a great spell for reviving both teammates if they are within range, as you can hit them at the same time with a ton of damage to deplete the gauge.

Because Incantations and Nightreign do not require special stat investment, they are interchangeable as long as you have the FP available.

While it has a relatively high FP cost, it's an excellent Incantation to have for multiple situations. If you come across a Sacred Seal with Scarlet Aeonia, you'll definitely want to keep it on hand to deal massive AoE damage and potentially revive both partners in the process in case of emergency.

2 Flame Of The Fell God: A Flaming Ball Of Death

It Moves Slow, But Will Wipe Out Entire Swarms Of Enemies

Flame of the Fell God is an Incantation modeled after the infamous Fire Giant's main attack from Elden Ring, where he expels massive fireballs that explode and leave pools of flame on the surrounding ground. This is one of the highest damage spells in the game, and is incredible for both single and multiple targets, as well as reviving allies. It deals massive fire damage upon the initial explosion, knocking enemies back and then leaving fire on the ground for a few moments afterward.

Elden Ring Nightreign Missed Its Biggest Opportunity

Two player cooperative multiplayer should have been a feature of Elden Ring Nightreign, as it would have brought in a whole new set of players.

While Flame of the Fell God can be a bit slow-moving and can sometimes be a pain to get the timing right, when this spell lands, it has a devastating impact. The FP cost is well worth it, and if a Sacred Seal happens to drop with this while you're on your way to face down the Sentient Pest or Fissure in the Fog, you will stand a much greater chance at defeating them.

1 Rotten Breath: Spew Rot From The Dragon's Mouth

A Top Choice Among Dragon Incantations

Rotten Breath is one of several different Dragon Incantations you'll come across in Nightreign, but it's my top choice among them because of how effective Scarlet Rot is against nearly every enemy in the game. Rotten Breath will function the same as the other Dragon breath attacks in the game, such as Dragonfire and Dragonice, but will inflict Rot buildup that can be triggered to deal damage over time, similar to how poison functions.

While there are many other top-tier Incantations that I didn't include on this list, such as Swarm of Flies, Pest Threads, Bloodboon, etc., the above Incantations are arguably the most versatile and powerful in the game. Whether you're playing as a pure spell-caster in Elden Ring Nightreign or are dabbling in Incantations as part of a larger strategy, if you come across the above Incantations on a Sacred Seal, I'd highly recommend giving them a shot.
