A new update for generally mixed reception from critics and fans alike. A lot of complaints were aimed at the game's balancing of the single-player mode, several bugs, as well as some performance issues. FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco did not previously give a date or time for the new patch, but it's already here.
According to the patch notes from Bandai Namco, patch 1.01.1 is now available and is aiming to address the single-player balancing, some item drops, and a lot of bug fixes on both consoles and Steam. Now, players who choose to play solo will get the effect of "Automatic Revival Upon Defeat", which allows revival once for each night's boss battle, and players will now get more runes during solo play. Previously, solo mode did not have a universal way to revive during expeditions, so solo mode was extremely challenging.
What Else Elden Ring Nightreign Has Updated
A Lot Of Bug Fixes And Some Balance Adjustments
In addition to the solo mode changes, the patch brings a few general balance changes and a ton of bug fixes. The patch will increase the number of high-rarity Relics that can be obtained as a reward when reaching Day 3 during Expeditions. That change seems to be aimed at alleviating at least some of the randomness when it comes to loot drops. The patch will also increase the probability of obtaining high-rarity Relics from Scenic Flat stones purchased at the Small Jar Bazaar.

Solo Mode Still Needs Improvements
The Game Is Clearly Designed For Three Players
Elden Ring Nightreign, when all the correct conditions are met, is a great experience, arguably the best co-op experience of any FromSoftware title. However, meeting those conditions is difficult. Having a core consistent group to progress, players that can party up via console parties or Discord to communicate, similar skill levels, and a lot more. That leads to players wanting a solo experience, and the solo mode, even with this new update, is still rough.
Nightreign might have an appeal for Souls players, even if they do not like multiplayer, but the solo mode still needs more work. Only one revive for the end-of-day bosses and bosses that have mechanics designed for three players, as well as being able to collect fewer weapons, runes, items, and other essentials than with a full party, puts a damper on the solo experience. It can be done, and it can be enjoyable, but Elden Ring Nightreign has a long way to go in of solo player offerings.
