After a long wait, Elden Ring players will be relieved to learn that sound effects for summon signs are included in the newest patch update of the action role-playing game. This multiplayer feature is not new to developer FromSoftware's games. Previously, sound cues were used in both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls but were oddly missing from Elden Ring. Now a new patch update adds that much-needed multiplayer feature into the game.
Like other Soulsborne games, Elden Ring has a multiplayer mode that lets players each other's game as either friends or foes. Using the Furlcalling Finger Remedy item, players can both see and interact with the summon signs around them. This summoning co-op feature in Elden Ring can be useful to players who would like assistance from others in the game. Once a player interacts with a summon sign, another player will appear. The color of the summon sign signifies whether the player being summoned will help or will duel the summoning player.
In the 1.05 Elden Ring patch update shared by Bandai Namco, players will now be able to hear when summon signs appear around them. This essential feature lets the summoning process run more smoothly for the player, especially when the summon signs are hard to see. If a player is lost in a fog and a summon sign appears nearby, they will now hear it appear, though they may not see it.
Though Elden Ring's multiplayer mode can still be improved, the addition of sound cues is certainly welcome. The new feature will likely save players time, as they will no longer have to wait for a summon sign to appear within view or wander around the world looking for one. Instead, access to the summon signs will be easier to locate, with the audio giving those searching for the signs a more identifiable cue. This update is also a welcome change for players who may have visual challenges, improving the game's overall accessibility.
In addition to the summon sign sound cues, the most recent patch update includes the standard bug fixes for weapon skills and equipment. The update also improves the stability of online multiplayer between the PS4 and PS5 consoles and boosts loading times for the Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, certain Bell Bearing items given to the Twin Maiden Husks NPCs will carry over once a player begins Elden Ring's New Game Plus mode. Though some players feel there are still many much-needed features for Elden Ring's co-op play, the improvements and additions of the 1.05 patch are a large step in the right direction
