Cunning players trying out Elden Ring’s Closed Network Test was recently held last weekend, offering select lucky fans an early chance to visit The Lands Between before the game’s full release.

While the launch of FromSoftware’s next title is mere months away, disappointed fans that were not selected for its recent Closed Network Test were enticed with the option to purchase scalped Elden Ring Network Test codes for hundreds of dollars. After g up for a code online, players were randomly selected, with many who received codes choosing to sell them on for profit. Sellers put the codes up for auction on eBay with some bids beginning at a whopping $200 USD, with multiple listings priced at well over $300. With an Elden Ring Network Test code, fans were able to any of the five scheduled test sessions, each session offering three hours of gameplay.

Reddit s Professional_Ease765 and G4GamingYT shared videos of their Elden Ring boss encounters, where both players managed to best their intimidating foe with the help of fall damage. In G4GamingYT’s clip, they faced off against one of the most formidable bosses found during the Closed Network Test, Margit the Fell Omen. The battle, which took place on a precariously high platform at Stormveil Castle, raged on with Margit at almost half health. The Greater Foe launched into an attack with their hammer, swinging it once before jumping into the air to prepare for a finishing slam. Unfortunately for Margit, he did not stick his landing, instead falling off the platform upon finishing his attack, dying instantly.

Earlier in the month, Bandai Namco’s gameplay preview revealed that while the game borrows elements from Dark SoulsElden Ring changes its fall damage gameplay, which in previous games was often incredibly lethal to players. In the case of Professional_Ease765, it seems that these changes did not extend to the game’s bosses. In their video, the Redditor watched from below as Flying Dragon Agheel perched on top of a cliffside, spewing out fire menacingly before attempting to descend down the cliff to do battle. Unfortunately for Agheel, the cliff’s side proved too slippery for the enormous dragon, causing them to slip and fall. While the fall was not very high from a dragon’s perspective, it was enough to fell the great boss.

While it’s understandable a fall from such great heights would kill Margit, it’s surprising that such a short fall would spell the end of Flying Dragon Agheel. Although it’s unclear whether FromSoftware will make any changes to fall damage for bosses before Elden Ring’s release next year, tricking bosses into falling off cliffs is certainly a valid strategy for players looking to secure a victory as quickly as possible.
