A player has discovered a secret ageway in Elden Ring's Brazil localization, who are missing a lot of the text from item descriptions and thus missing out on a lot of lore.

Apart from mishandled localizations like that, though, Elden Ring has been an immense success since it launched. Its immense sales success has led to a lot of fans playing the game and discussing it online, which in turn has led to a lot of fan art. It has also prompted some remarkable discoveries from the game's most devoted players, who've gone so far as to dive into Elden Ring's code to unearth secrets the developer never intended them to see. These discoveries include the appearances of Elden Ring NPCs who go masked throughout the game; as has been discovered by dataminers, these characters have fully modeled faces hiding under these coverings.

Other surprising secrets, it seems, are hiding in plain sight. Reddit teristam found a previously undiscovered hidden wall in the Volcano Manor dungeon and shared a video online. Hidden walls are a staple in Soulsborne games; they look unremarkable, but when struck with a weapon or rolled into by the player, they vanish, revealing a secret room or ageway. The key difference with the one teristam found is that it needed to be struck roughly 50 times before it would open; a single swing would as a normal strike on a normal wall, and likely leave a player none the wiser as to its true identity.

A peculiar property of the hidden wall is that it doesn't lead anywhere new, and it isn't much of a shortcut either. The room it leads to contains NPCs who are of Volcano Manor's blasphemous cult, and can be freely accessed as soon as Elden Ring players Volcano Manor themselves. The other side of the chamber is very close to the dungeon entrance, which itself is just across the hall from these NPCs, so very little time would be saved by using the age instead of simply navigating the dungeon as intended.

Still, the revelation that there exists at least one hidden wall in the game that doesn't behave like its counterparts is a surprising one. Elden Ring players must now consider that if this one secret door remained hidden for so long, there's no telling how many others have yet to be found. Perhaps there are even more subtle hidden doors in the world of Elden Ring containing as-yet undiscovered treasures or hidden bosses, waiting to be conquered by a worthy Tarnished.
