Evil Dead: The Game will be free on Epic Games later this month. Saber Interactive's survival horror co-op game was released in May of this year, initially retailing for $40 and gaining acclaim from casual players and video game streamers. With gameplay similar to Dead By Daylight and Left 4 Dead, and content from the beloved Evil Dead franchise (including original actors like Bruce Campbell reprising their roles), it's not surprising that the title was successful.

Fans have claimed that Evil Dead feels like Sam Raimi's movies, and that authentic experience will now be more accessible for PC players. The EvilDeadTheGame Twitter has announced that the title will be included in this month's list of free titles from Epic Games. From November 17 to November 22 (11am to 11am ET) Evil Dead: The Game will be available for free. Once players claim it on the storefront, they will be able to keep it forever.

Evil Dead: The Game's Free Promotion Upsets Buyers

Although this promotion gives new players a chance to step into the shoes of Ash Williams or a terrifying Kandarian Demon without financial risk, some players who purchased the co-op title before the promotion are unhappy that it is now available for free. That said, most of the Evil Dead: The Game DLC packs will still have to be purchased, alongside the Season . It's also worth noting that Evil Dead will only be available for free for a little under a week, so Epic Games players who don't take advantage of the deal will still have to purchase it afterward.

Unfortunately, the excitement around Evil Dead: The Game has died down a bit since its release, with many players voicing their complaints over 10-minute queue times. It's possible that this waning player interest is one of the factors behind developer Saber Interactive releasing it for free. Regardless of the reasoning, there is plenty of exciting Evil Dead lore-based content available to explore for new players, like the 2013 Evil Dead reboot's Mia as a playable character.

Epic Games' free offerings frequently include major titles like this, but Evil Dead: The Game is particularly exciting for fans of the films, or of co-op horror games in general. While the popular Dead By Daylight offers similar gameplay, it has never been free to permanently own, and it does not include the extensive Evil Dead lore that Evil Dead: The Game features. Now, more players can easily access Saber Interactive's multiplayer title and invite their friends to do the same. Some fans are likely hoping that this event will serve as a sort of revival for the game, and may already be planning the best survivor party for Evil Dead: The Game.
