Fae Farm is a new mystical cozy life sim game that blends magic, romance, farming, and combat all together in one cartoony package. Unlike other games in the farming sim genre, such as Story of Seasons, nobody has to focus on romance or marriage in order for Fae Farm to be enjoyable, but for those who do enjoy that aspect, there are six dateable NPCs available to woo and even marry. Three humans and three fae creatures make up the dating pool in this magical game, with personalities that range from the adorable geek to the extravagant foreigner.
Because Fae Farm offers multiplayer gaming with the ability for a little romantic competition, anyone who is playing in a world with their friends should be aware that they need to snatch up their ideal love interest before someone else does. At the beginning of the game, only Argyle and Jack are known, but as the game continues, others soon make their way to the island. Fae Farm is all about inclusivity, and any of the six characters can be romanced and married regardless of the player character's gender. There are two planned DLC packs expected to come in the future, although so far it has not been announced if more romance options will be included with them.
6 Jack
Jack is one of the characters who are immediately available at the start of the game. He is a lumberjack who spends a lot of his time in the Spooky Woods, although the amount of time he is seen sharpening his axe at the Tavern can feel a bit disconcerting. Jack is a kindhearted human who is an outdoorsman. Because of his being around right at the start of the game, he is one of the easiest to romance and is a sweet guy. His preferred gift seems to be a Brown Snail, although he also is quite fond of Beech Lumber, Chopped Fruit, Fruit Pies, and Fruit Salad.
5 Nhamashal
Nhamashal is a fae creature who has refined tastes. He likes to stargaze and write poetry, a true romantic at heart. His different-colored eyes are a nice touch to his features along with the unique fairy wings. He has a quiet and demure personality which can be mistaken as being aloof or even prideful, but with time and patience, he will begin to open up more. Nhamashal likes stones and minerals in Fae Farm such as Polished Rose Quartz, Polished Sapphires, and Polished Emeralds, with his favorite gift being Copper Ingots.
4 Pyria
Pyria is a dark and mysterious Fae who is a quiet and shy introvert who loves her solitude. She loves books and tea and can often seem to be in her own head or even depressed. Her preferred gifts all seem to be flowers that are black such as Black Zinnia, Black Tulip, Black Lily, and the Gloom Shade, with the Black Trillium being her favorite gift. Like Nhamashal and some others, Pyria does not the town until the whirlpools have been removed by progressing the main storyline.
3 Pepper
Pepper is another human who is single and looking for love in Fae Farm. She is sweet and loves the outdoors, particularly activities such as fishing. Rather than flowers, this girl prefers flour. She loves cooking and eating, therefore all of her favorite gifts are those that revolve around food items. Berry Jam is the best gift to give her, while other things such as Fish Jerky, Nut Butter, and Flour are all also good options for winning her heart.
2 Galan
Galan is a colorful Fae Warrior and an excellent jumbles fighter. They are hardworking and sensitive with some self-doubts that show through. Galan can often be found training with a dummy in Verdant Valley and is a protective and loyal friend and partner. The best gift to give Galan is Candy Corn, although other foods such as Baked Mac and Cheese, Deep-Sea Delight, and Scrambled Eggs with Fruit Salsa are all very well received by this hungry warrior, who clearly needs to keep up their strength to face the battles ahead. Similar to many of the others, Galan will not be available until after the whirlpools have been removed. Galan's character design and strength mix with the self-doubts they have to make them a sweet choice for a partner.
1 Argyle
Argyle is a human who is good-natured, sweet, and a bit of a nerd. Like Jack, Argyle is one of Fae Farm's characters that players meet early on in the game and his love of frogs is one of his most charming features. He spends a lot of his time at the Docks and loves receiving gifts having to do with frogs and bugs, such as Frog Sweat, Bug Juice, Blob Gobs, and a Common Toad. His most highly prized gift, however, is a Rainbow Frog, which he will be excited to see. Further adding to his sweet nature, he is regularly seen enjoying picnics. When on a date with Argyle, he might spend the time explaining frogs, as he loves to talk about his ion for them. This sweet guy might not be the most remarkable of characters, but his charm and kind heart make him one of the best to romance as it is hard not to find him simply adorable.
The best way to increase a relationship status with the object of affection is by simply talking to them each day. This applies to both romanceable characters and friendship levels with everyone on the island. Regular conversations can be supplemented by relationship quests and gifts, although gifts can be tricky, since each character's desired items can change from day to day. Eventually, once the relationship level is high enough, the NPC will send the player character a letter saying they want to spend more time with them, which leads to the Go On A Date option being unlocked. Fae Farm does allow any player to romance an NPC in the world they are currently in, however, and therefore multiplayer could lead to a bit of competition between friends.
