Destroying an Assaultron is a common daily challenge in Fallout 76. This mission aims to find and take down an Assaultron, a rare humanoid robot enemy. Their uncommon nature can make it hard to find an Assaultron in time. Luckily, Assaultrons love to gather in a few special locations in Appalachia.

Assaultrons are easy to recognize with their sleek designs and pointed chests. These designs make them resemble femme fatales. Like a femme fatale, an Assaultron will put up quite a fight upon approach. Once you memorize their weak points and have the right weapons, you can complete your daily challenge quickly and efficiently.

Fallout 76 got a lot of flak on release, but it’s undeniably improved since then. Is it finally worth playing? Here are the arguments for and against.

Where To Find An Assaultron

Best Assaultron Spawn Locations

Fallout 76 Wastelanders Watoga Underground

Assaultrons are scattered around the map in Fallout 76. However, if your goal is to hunt down and kill an Assaultron, a few areas are packed with these sleek robots primed and ready for combat. Two notable Assaultron hotspots, Watoga, and the Whitespring Resort, serve as the best hunting grounds for these particular enemies.

Watoga is a city plagued by robots thanks to its unique pre-war history of automation. It can be found in the Cranberry Bog region, where you can collect cranberries in Fallout 76. Assaultrons prowl the streets with other robots, such as Protection, who were all once designed to maintain the city for its human inhabitants before they were hacked to overthrow the city.

Some of the best parts of the city to find Assaultrons include Watoga Station, Watoga High School, Watoga Underground, and the AMS corporate headquarters (the giant tower).

The Whitespring Resort, meanwhile, is staffed by peaceful Assaultrons with a unique white paint job. These Assaultrons will only turn hostile when attacked. They can be found both inside and outside the facility for easy pickings. If either of these locations proves too hazardous for you, you can also visit the Hornwright Estate (especially the summer villa) or Grafton Steel Underground, populated by angry robots.

While you may have found an Assaultron without too much hassle, are you prepared to fight it? An Assaultron is designed for melee combat and has a powerful head laser. They can be troublesome for new players to overcome and are better avoided until you have better weapons and armor. If you need to fight one, however, there are a few spots you should prioritize hitting.

An Assaultron's weak point is in its legs; much of the robot's lethality comes from its speed as it closes the distance between it and its enemy, so rendering it immobile will make the whole fight easier. Once their legs are blown and they stop their assault, take out their heads. With that, your daily challenge will be complete, and you can move on to other fun activities in Fallout 76.
