Warning: Spoilers for Fantastic Four #32!Marvel has taken steps to destroy reverting The Thing back to a human. Soon enough, The Fantastic Four's powers start to fade as well. They travel to an alternate world to recreate their cosmic ray accident, but something goes wrong.
The ramifications of the previous issue's experiment are on full display in Fantastic Four #32 by Ryan North and Cory Smith. Fantastic Four #31 sees Ben Grimm change their coordinates to the past of Earth-616, absorbing the cosmic rays meant for The Fantastic Four's origin story. The result completely erases The Fantastic Four from history. Well, almost completely. Ahead of the issue's May 21 release date, readers can find a preview of Fantastic Four #32 below, with Joshua Cassara and Dean White's cover art.
The Fantastic Four and their children die, but aren't destroyed, ending up in new bodies.
The Fantastic Four are Killed and Reborn in New Bodies
Fantastic Four #32 by Ryan North, Cory Smith, Wayne Faucher, Oren Junior, Jesus Aburtov, and VC's Joe Caramagna
As seen in the preview, at her best efforts, Sue Storm tries to use her god-level force field to protect her kids, Valeria and Franklin, but not even that is enough to stop them from evaporating into nothingness with the rest of The Fantastic Four. Valeria miraculously survives on a technicality, awakening in the body of someone else. The Fantastic Four of this new revamped reality never came to . Instead, Reed Richards, Sue and Johnny Storm, and Ben all exit their space shuttle without powers. Ben and his lover, Alicia, live alone upstate and without children.

Why Reed Richards Let Doctor Doom Name His Daughter
The birth of Reed Richards' daughter is directly related to the death of Doctor Doom's lover. Now, the rivals are far closer than Reed may like to be.
Meanwhile, Reed and Sue are still married, albeit without giving birth to Valeria and Franklin. They birth Mary and Franklin; but not the same Franklin as the mutant powerhouse, as both children are just named after Sue and Reed's grandparents. Valeria herself was named after Doctor Doom, so her name wouldn't carry over into this new world. While the fate of the original Earth-616 continuity's Fantastic Four remains to be seen, it's safe to assume the rest of the team find themselves in a similar predicament as Valeria in a different body.
Is Marvel Creating a New Status Quo for The Fantastic Four?
Analyzing How Permanent of a Change This Could Be for The Fantastic Four
With The Fantastic Four set for their next big screen adaptation, First Steps, it's unlikely that Marvel will allow for these new bodies and personas for the team to be permanent. However, a more suitable status quo change that could be possible for this arc is placing the team in this entirely new world with their new storyline driven by trying endlessly to get back home. It wouldn't conflict with current plans for Marvel's first family in the MCU, while also placing The Fantastic Four into refreshing new territory.
Fantastic Four #32 goes on sale from Marvel starting May 21.
