After the delay of the movie, Fast And Furious 9 has become one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, and with the series’ ever-expanding cast, it’s shaping up to be the fastest, most furious movie in the franchise yet. And after Hobbs & Shaw, the franchise is n0 longer limited to the main movies, which opens up a whole world of possibilities.

Good spin-offs are one of the The Fast And The Furious surely in development, Universal should take note of these.

Carter Verone

Carter Verone Cropped

Verone may not have been the most intelligent villain of the series, but he was one with the most characteristics.

Being more like a Bond villain than anything else, with his mansion, yacht, and vast amount of cars, actor Cole Ha was almost channeling Scarface when he was playing Verone. Truly, there’d be nothing better than a Scarface-type movie in the physics-less world of Fast & Furious. The antagonist even promised that he would get his revenge at the end of 2 Fast 2 Furious, but that’s yet to happen.

Leon And Jesse

LEON AND JESSE IN THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS

It is never completely clear what happened to Jesse after he was shot by Johnny Tran and his crew during the drive-by. It’s heavily insinuated that he died, but even if he did, people have come back from the dead in the series before.

Leon and Jesse were two characters from the original movie that were primarily all about the cars, but they also had a bond, which usually led to making fun of Brian. There’s no bad blood between them, and a genuine bromance developed whilst talking superchargers would be a fan’s delight.

Suki, Julius, Slap Jack, And Jimmy

Paul Walker and other characters in front of cars in 2 Fast 2 Furious

2 Fast 2 Furious saw an array of fun characters, from the way they dress to the way they design their cars. The movie was more fun and cartoonish than anything, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

A whole spin-off movie with that type of tone and full of fun characters who can be identified by their overly personalized cars would be brilliant. And it’d be refreshing to see a movie in the franchise where there aren’t many lives at stake with the end of the world looming.

Leo And Santos

Leo and Santos in Fast 5

Leo and Santos were not respected in the series. First appearing in Fast & Furious, and then being recruited on to Dom and Brian’s heist team in Fast 5, the last fans saw of them was when they bet all of their millions on roulette, and then lost.

They had an extremely brief cameo in Fate of the Furious, but besides that, nothing. They totally deserve their own movie, even though they are basically an inferior version of Tej and Rome, it’d be massively entertaining.

Rome And Tej

Roman visits Tej at his garage in Fast Five

Though Tej undermining Roman is one of the worst things the main characters have done, the two characters have a great back and forth with each other, and as grouping two characters to form a buddy movie seems like the way forward in the F&F world, there are no two characters more suited to the format.

Between the two, it’d be an almost outright comedy.

Sean (And Twinkie)

Sean and Twinkie inside an elevator in Tokyo Drift

With Sean becoming the Drift King at the end of Tokyo Drift, it’s one of the storylines that were never resolved, and it’s a storyline that fans want to see continue.

Sean’s sidekick, Twinkie, and his amazing Hulk Toyota, could make an appearance too. Not only that, but the return of the whole Tokyo Drift crew would be an incredible sight, as all but Han have been sidelined ever since Fast & Furious.

Mia, Letty, Neela

Neela, Letty, Mia in Fast & Furious

Fast & Furious already has an interesting and unique set of women characters with a whole bunch of skills, ready to go for an all-women movie.

Mia, Letty, and even Neela from Tokyo Drift could have an adventure of their very own, especially seeing as they’ve been mostly underused.

The Shaws

Luke Evan as Owen Shaw looking at something in The Fate of the Furious

Yes, Deckard Shaw has already gotten a spin-off, and though it was patchy at best, it showed potential and proved that the character works better outside of the main series.

The villain of Fast & Furious 6 was none other than Shaw’s brother, played by Luke Evans, and a spin-off, prequel or otherwise, of them either working together or being at odds with one another would make for another solid cat and mouse chase movie.

Mr. Nobody

Mr. Nobody talking to someone in Fast & Furious.

As Mr. Nobody comes out of nowhere bearing a bucket of Corona, the character is a mystery and his background remains ominous, but one thing’s for sure, he’s had a long and storied career of taking down underground crime lords with his incredible gadgets.

And on top of being one of the characters fans want back, the character is played by Kurt Russell, and if there are any one of these actors who can carry their own spin-off movie, it’s Russell.

Roman

Tyrese Gibson

Fans were given a lot of backstory to Roman in 2 Fast 2 Furious, which instantly made him an interesting character, and it’d be fascinating to see how he ended up on house arrest and racing at the demolition derby.

What was his time like in prison? What was his upbringing like with Brian? These would all be the most interesting narratives of any spin-off, and Tyrese Gibson has totally earned his own movie at this point.
