Recent plot developments on FBI: International suggest that the procedural is planning to write Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer) out the same way they wrote out Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank). Forrester was the Supervising Special Agent in charge of the Fly Team during the series' first three seasons. He was written out toward the end of FBI: International season 3 when Kleintank decided not to renew his contract. However, his exit was disappointing because the character disappeared rather than getting a real exit story.
Mitchell was intended to be a permanent replacement for Forrester. He arrived at the beginning of FBI: International season 4 and has gradually been growing into his role despite his lack of experience and difficulty with impulse control, and has proven to be a popular character in his own right. Unfortunately, since FBI: International is one of the shows CBS canceled in 2025, it's likely that the series will write Mitchell out in order to wrap up his story effectively.
Wes' Potential FBI: International Ending Is Too Similar to Scott's
Both Characters Might Leave Because of Family Issues
Forrester's exit involved him disappearing altogether, leaving the team to worry about where he was. This ending seemed out of character, as the Fly Team was a close-knit unit that resembled a family by the time Forrester disappeared. Indeed, the team spent time searching for him. This investigation eventually led to the revelation that Forrester had gone dark to help his mom, who was a fugitive, escape to Alaska. Similarly, it seems FBI: International season 4 may end with Wes returning to the United States to help protect his half-sister from his biological father, who just got out of jail.

FBI: International Season 4, Episode 19 Offers Wes Mitchell A Way Out Of The Fly Team
FBI: International season 4, episode 19 offers Wes Mitchell an intriguing story that could lead to him leaving the series as it wraps up.
Wes' bio-dad has been eager to meet with him since his release, but Wes has had little interest. Similarly, he claimed not to care when his bio-dad told him about his half-sister. However, there would be little point in bringing this character up without introducing her, and Wes also indicated that his biological father was abusive. Thus, it's likely that Wes' story will end with him going Stateside to stop his father from abusing his half-sister.
Why Giving Wes A Similar Exit To Scott Is A Disservice To Jesse Lee Soffer's Character
Wes Is A Separate Character Who Should Get His Own Exit Story
It would be disappointing if Wes' exit story is as similar to Scott's as it appears to be. Wes was deliberately constructed to be a different type of leader than Scott. While Scott was normally level-headed and diplomatic, Wes tended to be impulsive and emotionally driven, often picking fights with local law enforcement over their lack of cooperation. However, his character never fully escaped comparisons to Scott on the part of the audience. Thus, allowing him to exit in a similar manner would force Wes to forever be associated with Scott.
If Wes' exit is what it appears to be, it will have to be written carefully to ensure that comparisons be kept to a minimum.
Wes's impulsivity makes it plausible that he would suddenly leave the Fly Team in order to protect his half-sister, so this would be a reasonable exit story if Scott had not had such a similar one. Unfortunately, Scott's exit cannot be undone. It's important that the writers refrain from writing a story for Wes that is too similar to the one already written the previous year for Scott. If Wes's exit is what it appears to be, it will have to be written carefully to ensure that comparisons are kept to a minimum.
How FBI: International Could Make Wes's Exit More Original
A Minor Change Could Help
The best way to make Wes's exit seem different from Scott's is to make a slight change to the story. Instead of Wes choosing to go Stateside to help his sister, the girl could come to Budapest seeking his help. The case could then lead back to Wes's biological father, and after his father is rearrested at the end of the finale, Wes decides to adopt his half-sister instead of allowing her to get thrown into the foster care system. If doing so requires him to return full-time to the United States, that would explain his departure without simply recycling Scott's exit story.

5 Things That Still Need To Happen Before FBI: International Ends
FBI: international season 4 has several loose ends it needs to tie up before the canceled procedural airs its final episode in May 2025.
There have been several disappointing exits in the FBI universe, so hopefully, the writers aren't planning something unoriginal for Wes. FBI: International would be better off with a more original scenario such as the one outlined above, as it would be different enough from Scott's exit that it would be unlikely to invite comparison after the procedural wraps up permanently.
