Final Fantasy XIV has released Patch 7.1, which includes the first tier of the newest Alliance Raid, another section of MSQ, new crafting materials such as the Royal Damask, recipes, and more. Among these new crafting materials is Royal Damask, which you'll likely find difficult to get. Considering this cloth is used as an ingredient for only a single recipe, it might not be surprising that it can take a lot of effort to pick up, if you decide to farm it yourself instead of purchasing it, that is.
The Echoes of Vana'diel lets you experience a touch of the first MMORPG in the Final Fantasy series: Final Fantasy 11. The details as to how these games crossover include a fair number of spoilers for FFXIV, but the result is a raid filled with nostalgia for players who experienced FF11 in the past. As a result, wanting to add furniture to your house or apartment that pays homage to FF11 is understandable and now possible if you're willing to put in the effort or spend a rather high amount of Gil.

How To Get Royal Damask In FFXIV Patch 7.1
Enter Jeuno: The First Walk
If you want to get Royal Damask, the first step is entering the Echoes of Vana'diel Alliance Raid. This is the only location that drops Royal Damask, and you need to meet these requirements to begin the quest that unlocks the first tier:
- Have a Level 100 Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic Class
- Complete the 7.0 Dawntrail MSQ
- Have an item level of 695 or higher
If you meet those requirements, you can go to Tuliyollal and speak with the Hoobigo Messenger, who's standing by the main Aetheryte of the city. He has a quest called "An Otherworldly Encounter" that has you head to Mamook and speak with Miilal Ja, Bakool Ja Ja's mother. From here, you just need to complete a few more quests that have you speak with more NPCs and watch a couple of cutscenes. Then, you'll unlock Jeuno: The First Walk.

FF14: How To Unlock (& Complete) The Dawntrail Sightseeing Log
Get the most out of your Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail experience by completing the Dawntrail Sightseeing Log. Live your tourist dream to the fullest!
Now that you're in the raid, you have a few more obstacles when obtaining a piece of precious Royal Damask. First, the wait time to get into the raid can vary depending on when you enter the queue, which means that sometimes it will be better to try to farm Royal Damask than others. It's challenging to set a schedule to follow for that, as it's dependent on time zones and player activity. While waiting for the queue, you can work on other tasks, like leveling your fishing to unlock the Major-General minion.
Second, there's no guarantee that a piece of Royal Damask will drop during your run. Its drop rate is rather low, making it a scarce crafting material. That leads to the third problem: even if it drops, you'll be rolling for it against other players. Combined with these circumstances, farming Royal Damask becomes a test of determination and patience. So, consider heading to the Marketboard instead to see if Royal Damask is available for purchase and its cost.
What To Use Royal Damask For In FFXIV
It's Required For One Crafted Item
Royal Damask is needed to make the Royal Bed, which is a Level 100 recipe that can be made by Carpenters. You can find it under Indoor Furnishings in your crafting menu under the Carpenter section in your job menu. The full list of ingredients you need to make it are:
- 32 Wind Crystals
- 32 Ice Crystals
- 1 Royal Damask
- 3 Dark Mahogany Lumber
- 3 White Gold Ingots
- 3 Thunderyards Silks
- 3 Ancient Lumbers
- 3 Rubies
It can't be crafted as a high-quality item, but you still need 4207 Craftsmanship to make it. Then, you're ready to place the Royal Bed in your own house or apartment, or you can put it up on the Marketboard for some profit. On Balmung, they're selling for just under 5 million gil. However, Royal Damask is selling for just under 4 million Gil, so a fair amount will reduce your profit if you buy it to make the Royal Bed.

FF14: Dawntrail - How To Get Every Mount
There were 11 new mounts introduced in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, and getting them all is no small feat. Here's how to complete your collection.
Crafting in MMOs can feel needlessly complicated, but when player housing is available, creating the perfect virtual space can be worth the time and effort. Depending on how much time you want to invest or how much Gil you want to spend, getting Royal Damask to make the Royal Bed can be either time-consuming or expensive. At least, Jeuno: The First Walk has fun music and mechanics to make repeated runs more bearable in Final Fantasy XIV.
